In our first of a few big announcements upcoming, the indoor complex at the University of Manitoba will begin installing new field turf just in time for the indoor season to begin October 17th.
The new fields will be state of the art and light years ahead of the turf that currently exists at U of M (the same turf that seven years ago we thought was the best around!). The new turf will be as good or better than what is currently at Investors Group Field. The indoor complex improved its lighting and added the padding on the beams around the field last year and will invest in the turf this year.
I have seen and tried out the new field turf...players will be quite surprised at how much better the newest iterations of field turf feel compared to what we are currently used to.

Free parking is available on Ellice and Spence after 5:30pm. Actually not much further to walk then if you were a row or two back at the indoor complex as the new facility is just on the other side of Duckworth.
If you wanted to park in heated underground parking it would be $4.00 for the evening.

Garden City Location best case scenario opens November 2015 (assuming construction goes smoothly). Technically city council has not voted to ensure the project is funded. That will occur later this month. All the construction that is currently occurring at the location is in fact a new hockey rink going up.

It would be nice. Safe to say the people who think U of M is ideal live in within a close proximity to there. Driving 30 minutes to the north end of the city (North Kildonan for me) at 2:30 am after a game in the middle of winter is exhausting and not fun at all. Another more central location or closer to the North would be appreciated by a lot of people. Garden City would be awesome. Or U of W. I like both. Maybe games wouldn't need to be as late either if there were more venues?
