Messages for Indoor Soccer Complex

Comment Posted by jon Sep 01, 2014 12:44 AM

In our first of a few big announcements upcoming, the indoor complex at the University of Manitoba will begin installing new field turf just in time for the indoor season to begin October 17th.

The new fields will be state of the art and light years ahead of the turf that currently exists at U of M (the same turf that seven years ago we thought was the best around!). The new turf will be as good or better than what is currently at Investors Group Field. The indoor complex improved its lighting and added the padding on the beams around the field last year and will invest in the turf this year.

I have seen and tried out the new field turf...players will be quite surprised at how much better the newest iterations of field turf feel compared to what we are currently used to.

Any news/announcements on the UofW RecPlex facility as a potential indoor venue for the PIT?

If there is enough interest we can definitely look into it. Who would prefer a more central location?

Im open to it but I know that theirs no close free parking could get expensive for some guys with registration and parking at the u of w .

Comment Posted by CP2OCHO Sep 01, 2014 09:22 PM

Parking not free after 5:30 PM anymore?

Comment Posted by MR. RELIABILITY Sep 01, 2014 09:56 PM

Nope.

Free parking is available on Ellice and Spence after 5:30pm. Actually not much further to walk then if you were a row or two back at the indoor complex as the new facility is just on the other side of Duckworth.

If you wanted to park in heated underground parking it would be $4.00 for the evening.

This city sucks ass

Yeah i usually park for free on Ellice and Spence for Basketball there. Not much of an issue to me.
Central location/better food on site would be a bonus to me.

I walk it everyday to work. The walk will take approximately 3 minutes (1 minute if you get right outside Duckworth!)

Use to play bball there and I used to parked on ellice and my car got jacked twice in the middle of the day.

Comment Posted by jon Sep 02, 2014 01:00 PM

That's what you get for playing basketball. Those guys don't mess with football players.

I prefer the U of M location.

Comment Posted by val Sep 03, 2014 05:26 PM

I'm happy with the U of M location as well.

U of W rocks! and GardenCity in 2015 will be even sweeter. And just think about the interesting interactions with the locals at Spence/Ellice around 1:15/2:15 A.M.

Comment Posted by Nolby Sep 04, 2014 06:21 AM

I feel safer walking home loaded down bishop than Ellice at 2 am...just sayin

Comment Posted by jonknow Sep 04, 2014 01:01 PM

I'm not a fan of parking my vehicle near u of w late at night/early in the morning.

Garden City would be awsome for all the players from that side of town. Also lots of free parking around there

Comment Posted by jon Sep 06, 2014 12:34 PM

What does the league think about expanding to Garden City to accomodate our north end teams?

U of M is ideal. Not just saying it to spite Nagel, that's just an added bonus!

Comment Posted by werd Sep 07, 2014 03:56 PM

garden city would be good

Comment Posted by pascal Sep 07, 2014 08:07 PM

U of W is so central compared to garden city and U of M, plus its brand new!

Comment Posted by kung_fu_panda Sep 07, 2014 08:48 PM

My team would be down with the GC location

I've been waiting for someone to come to the table with that suggestion. I am from out of town and Garden city is only a 25 minute drive as opposed to a 45 min drive....so very glad to see there is hopefully another option and venue to play in.

Garden City Location best case scenario opens November 2015 (assuming construction goes smoothly). Technically city council has not voted to ensure the project is funded. That will occur later this month. All the construction that is currently occurring at the location is in fact a new hockey rink going up.

It would be nice. Safe to say the people who think U of M is ideal live in within a close proximity to there. Driving 30 minutes to the north end of the city (North Kildonan for me) at 2:30 am after a game in the middle of winter is exhausting and not fun at all. Another more central location or closer to the North would be appreciated by a lot of people. Garden City would be awesome. Or U of W. I like both. Maybe games wouldn't need to be as late either if there were more venues?

How bout you start another league? You have enough players now. Call them PINT and PIST! North and South versions of the same great product. Then EVERYONE'S HAPPY!!

Comment Posted by jon Sep 10, 2014 02:47 PM

I think we could oblige! Just got to make sure the government funds the new complex and breaks ground soon (secret government policy code name: PIT PINT).

That would be a good idea Chris!!!

then there could be North League vs South League Championships at a neutral site!!! U OF W.
