The summer season saw some amazing individual and team performances. With the history book now updated it is time to acknowledge the players who set new standards in the PIT!

First a rundown of the new all-time records set this past summer:

SACKS: John Mergulhao, Anvils (44)
INTERCEPTIONS: Steve Nabess, Agent Orange (26)
POINTS: Shawn Pachet, Snipers (211)

Congratulations to these three maestros of touch football. The only record not to fall was the touchdown pass record, which most likely wasn't broken due to the fact that quarterbacks were too busy throwing interceptions! The old record of 19 interceptions was felled not only by Steve’s 26 but also by Neil Gwizon, FUBAR (25); Shawn Hopkins, Anvils (24); Steve Nabess (again) this time of Eagle 88 (22), and Anthony Raposo, Xcessive Force (20). This year was definitely the year of the defensive back!

Check out a complete listing of the all-time records here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-history-book Tomorrow I will highlight all of the divisional records broken in the most comprehensive statistical record keeping in recreational sports today! In the meantime here is some video of some of the interceptions from the last season:

With the end of the indoor season and start of summer we are getting a bit backlogged in updating the site. Here are the records that were broken in the record setting 2013 Winter season which saw over 130 teams participate. The annals of the record book have been updated and so will the Spring season shortly.

CO-ED DIVISION:
Points: James Gerardy, Semi-Pros and Camel Toes (57)
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, The Throw Jobs (26)
Interceptions: James Gerardy, Semi-Pros and Camel Toes (6)
Sacks: Lise Lamoureux, Nuts and Bolts (10)

DIVISION 11:
Interceptions: Adam Wowryk, Ripping and Tearing (9)

DIVISION 15:
Points: Brett Harrison, PayDirt (57)

DIVISION 17:
Points: Kyle Martens, The Rouge (78)
Touchdown Passes: Terry Martens, The Rouge (22)
Interceptions: Justin Zarnowski, Morningwood III: The Return of Morningwood Returns Again the Third (12)

DIVISION 18:
Points: Nick Trinder, Cutler's Facial Expressions (47)

DIVISION 19:

Interceptions: Aaron Lefort, The Pylons (10)
Sacks: Karmvir Bath, Spanish Channel News Team (16)

DIVISION 20:

Touchdown Passes: Roxanna Cox, We are Marshall's Wife (21)
Interceptions: Ezra Krahn, Weiner and Tacos (7)
Sacks: Mason Bennett, Trojans (17)

DIVISION 21:

Sacks: Connor Gilhuly, TD Twisters (8)

DIVISION 22:

Touchdown Passes: Chris Beaulieu, Off In The Shower (23)
Interceptions: Justin Stewart, Off In The Shower (12)
Sacks: Jen Wray, 2 Legit 2 Quit (13)

A PIT oddity that I am sure hasn't occurred previously, or will occur again, Scott McArthur led Division 2 in touchdown passes despite the Blazers going 0-5 during the season. The Blazers woes definitely couldn't be pinned on the quarterback during the Winter season!

Divisions 19 through 22 were new divisions and as such the division leaders in the Winter set standards for future players to strive for.

Congratulations to the new divisional record holders who set the new benchmarks during the Winter 2013 season! Here is a link to the record book which extolls the entire statistical history of the PIT: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

With the end of the indoor season and start of summer we got a bit backlogged in updating the site. Here are the records that were broken in the record setting 2013 Spring season which saw 62 teams participate.

COED DIVISION B:
Points: Laurene Bachand, Flying Squirrels (32)
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, Flying Squirrels (16)
Interceptions: Scott Angus, Flying Squirrels (2)
Sacks: Sean Angus, Flying Squirrels (4)

DIVISION 4:
Points: Aaron Yanofsky, U Can't Touch This (101)
Touchdown Passes: Jesse Clarke, U Can't Touch This (31)

DIVISION 7:
Touchdown Passes: Evan Gill, Hard (25)

Some pretty stiff competition and parity across the divisions meant not many records were broken in the Spring session. Coed B was a new division for the Spring to offer more levels of skill within coed. As such the division leaders in the Spring set the bar for which future players in the division will attempt to raise.

Congratulations to the new divisional record holders who set the new benchmarks during the Spring 2013 season! Here is a link to the record book which extolls the entire statistical history of the PIT: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

Congratulations to Steve Nabess of Agent Orange who set the all-time summer interception record with 27, besting the record that he himself set last year with 26. All of the other records were safe. A listing of which can be found here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

Honorable mention goes out to Jamie Wilson of the Cobras who was on pace to destroy the interception record before falling to injury. Jamie had an amazing 23 interceptions in just 10 games and thus was on pace for 41 interceptions on the season. Crazy.

An updated listing of all the record holders and divisional leaders for all of the summer stats will be updated this week.

Thankfully I didn't count for any of those 27 interceptions in our match ups against Steve (none that I can remember and all I chose to forget)! I finally got you figured out Steve...you're a ball stealing machine!

With a record number of teams registered for the summer season some individual records were bound to fall. Divisions 10 and 11 made their first appearance during the summer season as did the flag divisions. New benchmarks were set in those divisions and when coupled with some great individual performances quite a few divisional records were set. In addition, a new all-time record for interceptions was set by Steve Nabess who bested his old record by one, racking up 27 picks along the way!

Listed below are each of the new divisional standards set during the Summer 2013 season. The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

Congratulations from your PIT Crew on some great individual performances during the record breaking Summer 2013 season!

Congrats to Anthony Dyck of The Boys who set a new indoor scoring record during the fall season amassing an amazing 126 points in 5 games! Anthony bested the 119 points David Lundberg put up as a member of the Roughnecks way back in the Fall 2009 season. Anthony was part of the reason that The Boys made short work of their division as they went from 1-4 in the spring to record setters in the Fall.

The remainder of the divisional records will be posted up shortly as the record book revisions are finished!

With a record number of teams registered for the fall season the thought was that many records would be broken. However, other than a few players who busted out with new divisional scoring records (and Anthony Dyck’s new all-time scoring record), the number of divisional records that fell was surprisingly sparse. For the first time no interception records were broken – where is Steve Nabess!?!?! Perhaps an indication that both the competition and the parity in the league is becoming that much better.

Listed below are each of the new divisional standards set during the Fall 2013 season. The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

ELITE:
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, Guild of Calamitous Intent (30)
Points: Mark Ridd, Guild of Calamitous Intent (69)

DIVISION 3:
Points: Todd Pasternak, Gwizicanes (78)

DIVISION 14:
Points: Niclas Bembenek, Touched by Angels (94)

DIVISION 15:
Points: Kyle Hosein, Farting Rainbows (69)

DIVISION 16:
Points: Marcello Vaziri, Manchild United FC (67)

DIVISION 18:
Points: Anthony Dyck, The Boys (126) NEW ALL-TIME INDOOR SCORING RECORD
Sacks: Dustin Wolfe, The Boys (11) (tied the divisional record)

While records weren't broken there are two individual performances that should be mentioned. Both Max (Don't Call Me Jeanson) Jenson and Neil (Shark Club Gwizican) Gwizon each topped their divisions in three statistical categories, a truly amazing feat. Max Jenson lead his division in scoring (67) and interceptions (8) while tying for the division lead in touchdown passes (16). Neil Gwizon led his division in touchdown passes (19) and sacks (6) while tying for the division title in interceptions (3). Amazing considering Max can't throw himself touchdown passes and Neil can't be picking the ball off when he is chasing down quarterbacks. Congrats to both players on great seasons that weren’t part of the new records set in the fall.

That is truly an amazing record to beat. Congrats ......
However I have seen this a few times and figured I would say my two cents. It appears there is a wide range of player abilities in many of these divisions. If Anthony is truly a div 18 talent then congrats. However if Anthony is a much higher caliber player than most in the division then congrats on your accomplishment but he should not get credit for the record.
Just my two cents.

That was a tough one, the team which was called Melnyk and the Boys finished with a 1-4 record in the bottom division during the Spring 2013 season, before registering during the Fall 2013 season. The Boys got a year older and played well, but of course they are no longer under the radar. There is a ton of work in divisional placement and sometimes we just don't get it correct regardless of effort.

I have to say that you guys do an excellent job of coming close based on the crazy amount of players that are playing. I know the goal is for everyone to have a record around 500 and it amazes me at how often that happens. Kudos.

Thanks Chris, I think we should set up a camera so the league can watch our discussions of which team should go in which division and how it devolves into the depths of insanity. "Lets compare 148 teams and then break them into equitable divisions of 6." 10 hours into the process, 40 crown royals, thousands of player and team cross-checks with previous seasons, mathematical algorithms that NASA couldn't solve, and trying to prevent your mind will folding in onto itself make for good times.

We are getting better each season and preventing players from being added without permission after the roster deadline has increased divisional parity. Each time we attempt to set up the divisions I think it will be pretty straightforward...and I am invariably wrong. Who would have thought that a team who didn't make playoffs in the bottom division in the Spring would come back in the Fall and set records along the way against the same teams they lost to just months earlier?

Pretty sure Admiral Akbar was talking about divisional placement when he said this:

Well, I still think scoring 126 points, regardless of what div you are in is still an accomplishment. My discount double check team played Melnyk and the boys last spring and they defintely were not that good. I mean they went 1-4 last season, it's hard to predict they were going to get that much better over such a short period of time. Its also kinda impossible to tell how good someone is if they haven't played in the league before. This was Mr.Dyck's first time playing in the league, so how are Jon and Scott suppose to know how good or bad he was going to be? It's easy to say afterwords they were in the wrong division, but 126 points is 126 points no matter how you look at it and it's quite the record to own, so congrats to him. To say he shouldn't get credit for it is quite "RiDYCKulous"...... See what I did there? Excellent play on words.. You're welcome.

Comment Posted by gwizicane72 Jan 17, 2014 11:11 AM

I was thinking i would try and break some records at some point....... but then i realized i would rather just get drunk.

Also Steve Nabess kinda stole my pick title thunder last year, and completely destroyed my confidence.

Comment Posted by Travers Jan 17, 2014 12:28 PM

Steve does that to people. Takes their confidence away.

Comment Posted by old guy Jan 18, 2014 10:09 PM

Travers...... Not sure on your excellent choice of words, maybe if I have played as long as you I would understand. I said if he was indeed a div 18 player than congrats. Since it was his first time playing then great for him!! I have seen some players that play in much higher divisions setting records in divisions they don't belong in. And yes they do a great job in setting divisions there is way to many teams and players to balance out all teams, as well as judge talent.
p.s. please disregard any spelling and grammar errors.

The record book for the Spring season has now been updated. Despite the record number of teams participating during the Spring session only one divisional record was broken and one record was tied, no all-time records were broken. This is a testament to the parity of the divisions in the Spring session! In fact, for the first time ever we had a statistical category with no stats as no one among the Division 2 teams registered a sack in the spring. Score one for the QBs! Below are the two statistical seasons which will be etched for eternity into the record books.

ELITE:
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, The Horde (32)

DIVISION 13:
Interceptions: Ed Stankewich, One Bourbon One Scotch and One Beer (9) TIED divisional interception record.

The last two years have seen both the all-time sack and interception records broken as the defensive schemes in the PIT were starting to surpass offensive strategies. However everything in football is cyclical and this year the offense got some revenge as both offensive all-time records were broken.

Brant Ginter of the Chupacabras surpassed the scoring record with an amazing 272 points, smashing the old record by 61 originally held by Shawn Pachet of the Snipers. Jon Franklin broke the all-time touchdown pass record becoming the first QB to throw for 100 TDs in the PIT for the second year Horde team. Jon broke his own record of 95 set back in 2011 with the Guild of Calamitous Intent.

Congratulations to our two newest all-time record holders. A complete update of the divisional record holders and breakers for the summer will be finished shortly. The all-time records of the PIT can be viewed here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

The final wrap up to the summer 2014 outdoor season is a shout out to all of the great individual performances of the season. The 2013 season saw the defensive players get their due as many of the interception and sack records were broken. In 2014 the offenses caught up and now it was the TD passes and points records which were assaulted. Hats off to Brant "My name stirs website trouble" Ginter who scored what I think is an insurmountable 272 points to set the all time scoring record and Jon "The Jimmy" Franklin who set the all-time TD pass record with 100. Also a shout out to Jim Bell who obliterated the old div 2 passing record throwing 80 TD passes!

Listed below are all of the divisional records broken during the summer and the new standards set:

ELITE:
Sacks: Nick Trinder, The Horde (25)
TD Passes: Jonathon Franklin, The Horde (100) NEW ALL-TIME TOUCHDOWN PASS RECORD

DIVISION 1:
Points: Darryl Janzen, Doggs (152)

DIVISION 2:
TD Passes: Jim Bell, Knights (80)
Points: Marshall Cox, Titans (181)

DIVISION 5:
TD Passes: Shawn Funk, Rampage (63)
Points: Shane Smedvik, Rampage (170)

DIVISION 9:
Sacks: Glendale Sabatin, Mediocre White Hype (38)

DIVISION 10:
Points: Brant Ginter, Chupacabras (272) NEW ALL-TIME SCORING RECORD

FLAG DIVISION 1:
Interceptions: Jason Malcolm, Blitzkrieg (10)

FLAG DIVISION 2:
TD Passes: Luke Kennerd, Sports (28)

ALL-STAR GAME:

The very successful Fall chapter can be closed now that the record book has been updated. The great parity on the field also played out during the season as very few records were felled. Having said that there were still some great individual performances to go along with that great slate of championship games. As the Coed and Masters divisions continue to grow and more talent enters the ranks those records are most precarious and as we saw in the fall the majority of Divisional records were set in those divisions!

Here are the players who cemented their legacy in the Fall season:

MASTERS:
TD Passes: Hoan Mac, Dayton Triangles (26)
Points: Bob McKnight, Dayton Triangles (73)
Interceptions: Rick Morand, Cleveland Tigers (8) Tied Divisional Record

COED:
TD Passes: Jonathon Franklin, Flying Squirrels (34) TIES THE ALL-TIME TOUCHDOWN PASS RECORD
Interceptions: Kyle Hosein, Vicious and Delicious (10)

DIVISION 2:
TD Passes: Neil McKernan, Football Junkies (30) Tied Divisional Record

DIVISION 13:
Interceptions: Doug Larke, Safety First (9) Tied Divisional Record

DIVISION 15:
Sacks: Ian Morris, 1 in the Pocket 2 in the Endzone (17)

Congratulations to all of our new record holders, we will see if these records can survive the Winter season! The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

Just like in the Winter, I seemed to have been a bit delayed in honoring our new record holders from the Spring season! The Spring season saw the largest contingent of teams in PIT history, but the sheer number of teams didn't lead a record number of records being broken! Parity reigned which makes it difficult to get a foothold in our record book!

COED RECREATIONAL DIVISION:
Interceptions: Neil Smalley, Medical Whiskey (7)

DIVISION 5:
Touchdown Passes: Steve Nabess Sr, Team West (30)

Um...that is it! Our largest season of Spring indoor yielded our smallest number of new record holders. If anything, perhaps this will reignite the Neils vs Steves argument! Congratulations to each of our two new record holders. All statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

Congratulations to our two newest all-time record holders for the Summer season. A record I didn't think would be broken was...and was broken quite quickly as Steve Nabess Sr's record of 27 interceptions in a season was smashed by Jordan Moore of Law Firm who had 30 picks or an amazing 1.66 INTs per game! Jordan trailed Steve by one interception going into the final game of the season and had four in that final to emphatically put his stamp on the interception record...will this record be broken just as quickly? Jon Franklin of the Horde also tied the all-time touchdown pass record hitting the century mark for the second year in a row. This year it took me 18 games to do it, well off the pace set last year when it only took 17 games to hit 100!

Here is a preemptive strike for Jeff Eyamie.

Congratulations to our two newest all-time record holders in the PIT!

The very successful Summer chapter can be closed now that the record book has been updated. The great parity on the field that played out during the season also showed up in the record book as very few records were felled. Having said that two all-time records were set as the interception record was broken (30 interceptions!) and the touchdown pass record was tied (100 TD passes!). Nice round numbers for other players to take a shot at breaking next summer. It appears that Division 9 was were records went to be broken as three of the four statistical categories now have new names inscribed in the record book.

Here are the players who cemented their names in the annals of PIT lore following the finish of the Summer season:

ELITE:
Points: Jeff Draper, Iced Earth (186)

DIVISION 1:
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, The Horde (100) TIES THE ALL-TIME TOUCHDOWN PASS RECORD
Points: Ev Jackson, Doggs (155)

DIVISION 7:
Interceptions: Luke Jacobucci, The Kings (23)

DIVISION 9:
Touchdown Passes: Jordan Swerid, Law Firm (56) Ties divisional TD pass record
Interceptions: Jordan Moore, Law Firm (30) ALL-TIME INTERCEPTIONS RECORD
Sacks: Jessey Ferreira, Believe the Hype (38) Ties divisional sack record

DIVISION 11:
Interceptions: Allen Grouette, Uncle Rico's Football Academy (16)

Congratulations to all of our new record holders! The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

The record breaking fall season has come to a close. Despite the record number of teams participating not many records were felled during the season, a testament to the parity that reigned as most teams across the divisions were very evenly matched. Here are the new pantheon of players who etched their names into the record book, names that our Winter contingent of players will be chasing!

DIVISION 10:
Points: Chase Sweeney, The VaudeVillians (109)

DIVISION 12:
Points: Michael Franczyk, The Kings (89)

DIVISION 13:
Touchdown Passes: Nicholas Jessamine, The Kings (23) TIED divisional touchdown pass record.

DIVISION 14:
Sacks: Kris Bulat, The Dude Abides (16)

COED:
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, The Flying Squirrels (34) TIED ALL TIME INDOOR TOUCHDOWN PASS RECORD

Congratulations to all of our new record holders! The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

I went to update the Spring record book now that I had some time to devote to it...and saw the Winter record book hadn't been updated! The PIT Partnership with Football Manitoba meant we had two new divisions and therefore high water marks would be set across the board. Other than the two new divisions only three records were felled and two others tied during the winter (and one of those was a Pro Bowl record), demonstrating the parity that exists across each of the divisions. So it was a struggle to break records, all the more reason to give the ones who did some mad props!

U20 FLAG DIVISION:
Points: Jh'Quin Swan, Team PIT Football (69)
Touchdown Passes: Garrison Trinder, Team PIT Football (22)
Interceptions: Jh'Quin Swan, Team PIT Football (6)
Sacks: Domenic Horvath, Team Toba; Austin Coutts, Channel 4 News TIED (6)

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION:
Points: Abdul Gassama, Vincent Massey Trojans (63)
Touchdown Passes: Andre Dueck, Vincent Massey Trojans (21)
Interceptions: Lucas Johnston, Kildonan East Reivers (5)
Sacks: Amun Mayol: Grant Park Pirates (10)

COED RECREATIONAL DIVISION:
Points: Damian Mckenzie, Coed Free Agents (81)
Interceptions: Scott Angus, Coed Free Agents (7) TIED Divisional Record

DIVISION 7:
Interceptions: Luke Jacobucci, North Bay (11)

DIVISION 12:
Points: Chase Sweeney, The VaudeVillians (92)

PRO BOWL:
Touchdown Passes: Keith Bourgeois, MAACO All Star Team #3 (4) TIED Pro Bowl Record

All hail our new record holders! The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book

The Spring record book has now been updated. A few records were felled but the PIT Partnership with Football Manitoba meant we had two new flag divisions and therefore new measures of success would be achieved with the flag collaboration. A special shout out to Jeremy Kornelsen who set the Division 1 scoring record, a record that had been held since year one of the league. Not only did Jeremy break one of the oldest records in the PIT he did so as an 18 year old. The future is definitely bright for this young star!

FLAG DIVISION:
Points: Richard Wyss, Team Manitoba U20 Flag (68)
Touchdown Passes: Jonathon Franklin, Team Manitoba (29)
Interceptions: Marshal Cox, Team Manitoba (8)
Sacks: Steven Trinder, Team Manitoba (3)

DIVISION 1:
Points: Jeremy Kornelsen, Knights (95)

DIVISION 2:
Sacks: Donovan Gregoire, Monstars (14)

COED COMPETITIVE:
Points: Christopher Benevides, Diving Snatch (74) TIED Divisional Record

MASTERS:
Interceptions: Rick Morand, Staten Island Stapletons (8) TIED Divisional Record

All hail our new record holders! The statistical leaders can also be viewed in a more historical context here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-record-book
