I can't help but notice that during the outdoor seasons, I so often hear " well, it doesn't matter where we finish, everyone makes the playoffs". But during the indoor seasons I often here " we NEED to win our next game to make the playoffs.. Etc". Having said that, and this is just an idea tossed out there, Has there ever been any consideration to not having all the teams making the playoffs during the outdoor season? Not to say that players are trying hard now, but I feel like it might be a little more competitive of teams knew that playoffs were not guaranteed. I don't know if there is some sort of rule in place where all teams have to make it. I'm sure there is pros and cons to doing it that way. Anyways .. I'm extremely bored at work so I thought I'd post this and see what people had to say.

Indoor does have a different dimension added to it when every game potentially counts for playoffs. I am not a fan of all teams making playoffs however in the summer teams could be out of contention relatively early which makes for a very long season if playoffs aren't a realistic goal...plus it is awesome when that underdog team with only a few wins gets hot come playoffs and turns the division upside down!

If summer teams had a potential of not making playoffs I think you would end up seeing a lot more high end players being enlisted into low div teams to ensure they get in (case in point the summer free agents didnt win until Damian was added) The teams that are just groups of friends looking for fun and easy exercise would be the first casualties as they would get pounded on by teams 'geared to win'. Maybe the higher divs that have the best players, but the beer league lowest divs should stay as is.
Just my irrelevant two cents...

as i thought about this as well..... there are pros but alot more cons to it...like jon said teams that lose early and may not be in contention for a playoff run. we may start to see more defaults as guys might stop showing up do to teams not having a chance at glory... that being said i agree with gumby there lol...if enough teams are commited there should be some divs where playoffs are not garunteed as i am not a fan of everyone making it.
