The playoff schedule has been updated with all of the games in which both seeds have been determined. The updated playoff schedule can be found here: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/730-summer-outdoor-2011/games/playoffs Playoff games will be continually updated on that link as playoff seeds are determined. Still lots at stake in the league with only a few days remaining including first place in both divisions 3 and 4 still up for grabs!

There are more tie-breaker scenarios to come as the final games play out, but for those teams who have their 18 games and are tied, a listing of how the tie-breakers are decided can be found below. Please note that the tie-breakers used on the website are different than those used by the league so standings don't necessarily reflect where a team has finished. A complete list of tie-breaker scenarios can be found here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/outdoor-rules-2011

Division 1:
Iced Earth holds the tie-breaker on the Guild due to their better head-to-head record

Division 3:
Dead Zone wins the tie-breaker over Dogg Pound by virtue of the 4 tie-breaker scenario. Season series was tied 1-1 and plus/minus in those two games was even, so we had to use plus/minus overall which Dead Zone wins +101 to -2

The Chiefs get the tie-breaker over Love Assault by virtue of having more victories.

Division 5:
Deep Pockets gets third place, while Necessary Roughness gets bumped to 4th as Deep Pockets won the season series between the two teams.

Division 7:
Micronauts holds the tie-breaker over Rolling 7s due to having move victories.

Team captains are strongly encouraged to examine the playoff schedule at the top of this forum posting to ensure your team is at the proper field, at the proper time, on the proper day!

The playoff schedule has once again been updated. All teams should check out the link posted here: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/730-summer-outdoor-2011/games/playoffs If your game has not be listed you can figure out when your team plays based on the schedule above (once games are completed Saturday the schedule will once again be updated). Teams are encouraged to check the schedule regularly to ensure they are at the correct field at the correct time.

With the regular season ending tonight the following tie-breakers were decided:

Division 2:
Pylons get the second seed due to their head-to-head victories over the Love Hitmen

Division 3:
Hitmen over the Vipers due to the Hitmen's greater number of regular season victories

Division 4:
Face Kick over Blitzkrieg due to having a better head-to-head plus/minus
Decepticons over Polk High due to having a better head-to-head plus/minus

Division 6:
There was a three-way tie for second between System of a Touchdown, Sloppy Secondary, and the Manwhorz. Manwhorz gets the tie-breaker by having the best head-to-head record between the three teams. Once that tie-breaker was decided, then Sloppy Secondary wins the tie-breaker with System of a Touchdown due to having a better head-to-head plus/minus. So Manwhorz finishes second, Sloppy Secondary 3rd, and System of a Touchdown 4th. Quite a contested division!

Having briefly glanced at this I was curious as to why HFC would be 4th under Bondiddy? While they would have won the head-to-head tie breaker against us, the first tie break scenario is more points overall (wins/losses). This would lead me to believe that even though our records our tied due to our default, we would still have the better win/loss ratio, would we not? Just thought I'd check since we thought we had finished third. No worries either way... Go Lions!!! Detroit in the super bowl!

You are right Dave, HFC does hold the tie-breaker on Bondiddy (more wins). However, there is no manual way of changing the standings (we are working with the website people to ensure in the future this is something that can be completed), so despite the website putting you behind Bondiddy, you will receive the 3rd seed. Once the playoff games are updated at the end of the day your higher seeding will be reflected on the schedule.

The PIT website is the best in touch football today, but not without faults. We are always working to improve the site, and your issue is top of the list. Play some missle command to take your mind off of things http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/the-arcade

Sweet. Thanks for clarifying. And I play that game too much as it is. And I'm terrible at it so I'll just play my own missle command from now on.

All games for the upcoming weekend have been updated on the schedule here: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/730-summer-outdoor-2011/games/playoffs

In Div 8 there was the matter of the three-way tie for 2nd between Cobras, Running Riot, and the Anvils. In terms of head-to-head match ups Running Riot won the tie-breaker and thus was seeded second in the division. Cobras and Anvils split the season series, however Cobras comes out on top due to having a better points for and against in those head-to-head games. As a consequence, the Cobras finish third in the division and Anvils finish 4th.

Division 8 1st through 4th seeds will play Sunday at 1:00 with the schedule updated right after the Division 1 through 8 games in the division play out on the Saturday.

All teams should check the schedule carefully to ensure they have the correct field and times for their games.

Jon
Where are the Micronauts on this schedule for the weekend?

Comment Posted by cobras63 Sep 22, 2011 06:49 AM

Hey Jon,

Just to clarify, you said: "Division 8 1st through 4th seeds will play Sunday at 1:00," the the schedule says we play at 2:15. Am I just legendarily thick and don't understand your words? Should I be paying attention to the schedule, or this comment?

Comment Posted by Shadrackc Sep 22, 2011 07:25 AM

So semi final october 1st, final october 2nd?

Comment Posted by jon Sep 22, 2011 07:57 AM

Hey Chris,

Division 8 quarter-finals Saturday at 2:15 (as listed on the schedules page), Division 8 semi-finals will be Sunday at 1:00 (since we don't know the teams involved it is not listed on the schedules page).

Al, you are correct, Division 7 Semi-finals on the 1st, championship games on the 2nd. All championship games will be under the lights at East Side Eagles field.

The schedules may seem a little screwy but a lot of schedule requests from teams were in place that we had to work around. Plus we wanted the finals to be a great experience for our teams thus we had to work around the availability of East Side Eagles field. Teams will be impressed with the venue.

To make things a bit easier to interpret on the website I will put in some "placeholders" (e.g, Division 7 finals East Side Eagles, Division 8 semi-finals Sunday 1:00 ...) on the schedules page tonight as well when I have a few minutes. It won't have the teams involved but it will be easy to find.

The playoff schedule has been further updated with the requisite placeholders for the weekend and the championship games. All games that have both seeds determined have also been updated for next week. There may be some changes in the time of the remaining semi-final games based on what happens this weekend, however all of those games will be played on Saturday October 1st.

Championship games will be held under the lights at East Side Eagles Fields on the following days:
Tuesday September 27th (Divisions 5 and 8)
Saturday October 1st (Divisions 1 and 2)
Sunday October 2nd (Divisions 3, 4, 6, 7)

For a complete listing of games please check out the playoff schedule link found here: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/730-summer-outdoor-2011/games/playoffs

Jon,

You have the Div 1 & 2 finals on the schedule page listed as Fri, Sep 30th rather than Sat, Oct 1st. Doesn't affect me, but you more athletic higher division guys may want clarification on the date they need to show up for finals.

Good eye Les, at least teams would have been early rather than late!

The sched has been fixed.

The playoff schedule has been updated after a wild weekend of playoff football. The parity in the PIT was on display as the North End Hawkeyes (9th seed) in Div 8 knocked off both the top and second seeded teams to continue their underdog run in the playoffs. Da Killa Beez (8 seed) also knocked off the top-seeded Face Kick in Division 4. Not a great weekend to be a top seed! Check out the following link for the updated schedule: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/730-summer-outdoor-2011/games/playoffs All teams should check the schedule carefully to ensure they have the correct field and times for their games.

Tuesday is the first set of championship games as Divisions 8, 5, and 9 do battle under the lights on the artificial turf of East Side Eagles field. The canteen will be open so teams can buy Gatorade, and the fans can get hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks. The scoreboard will be in use, the announcers booth will be running in full effect, and the nicest trophies and swag will be on display with plenty of great prizes in the offering from the many PIT Sponsors.

Only in the PIT!

Can't wait for Tuesday night. Brewers try to win the summer trophy that has eluded us for so many years. Good luck to all.
