Messages for 2011 Maaco Autobody All-Star Game

The PIT would like to award all of those unsung heroes who chase around their teammates for registration money, ensure players get to the field, work around the schedules of others, deal with the day-to-day drama, and generally go gray with the joys of organizing recreational touch football. Without the captains of the 70 teams in the league the PIT would not exist. Team captains might not lead their respective divisions in points, TD passes, interceptions, or sacks, but they are the true all-stars, and should be acknowledged as such.

What better way to do so then to invite all of our outdoor team captains to the 2nd annual captains all-star game. We have upped the ante this year by holding the all-star game under the lights on the artificial turf at East Side Eagles field on Friday September 9th! Due to the huge growth in the league there will be two all-star games held. The first at 8:15pm the second at 9:30pm on the blue turf of East Side!

All team captains in attendance will receive all-star t-shirts and be eligible to win some great swag from our sponsors. The main sponsor of the all-star game will be Maaco Autobody which has donated the all-star trophy. The trophy will have each of the team captains names of the winning teams inscribed `Stanley Cup`style for future reference! A big thanks goes out to Rod at Maaco, if you are in need of some autobody work, bring your car to Rod at Maaco on Wall Street. Tell him you play in the PIT and he will work out a great deal for you!

Team captains must register for the all-star game by Thursday September 1st to be eligible for the game. To register, team captains should email Jon (email found on the contacts page). All team captains who are registered will have their names placed on the homepage with the 4 all-star teams created after the 1st.

Congratulations to each team captain who will represent their team in the 2011 all-star game!

How can you honestly top this league?!?!

I guess you would have to find a way onto an NFL roster to be treated better. I hear they carry your bags for you there. Just a suggestion. Maybe next year?

A reminder to all team captains that they are to register for the all-star game that is to be held under the lights at East Side Eagles Field on Friday September 9th. We will be pushing back the registration deadline to Monday September 5th at 12:00 noon. The teams and game times will be released Monday night. Captains will be treated to some great swag from our sponsors as part of the festivities.

All captains that have registered are listed on the homepage, so if you don't see your captain listed definitely get on him. Should be a great time!

Looks like the All-Star game will have perfect temperatures to be played in tomorrow(Friday night). Forecast is a perfect 20 degrees (Did we mention this will be under the lights on the best playing surface Winnipeg has to offer). All team representatives are encouraged to come out to play and or meet the other true All-Stars of the PIT league.

The updated team lists are above, players should report to their team captains at least 15 minutes prior to game time to get organized! We have some great swag from Winn City Pub, Just for Looks, Presto Pizza, and Tavern United to give away to our all-stars.

Should be a great time!

Can't wait for tonights game Im sure it's gonna be a blast. Has there ever been any thought of adding a second night with a skills competition? Each team sends a representative to compete in each category. Events could be longest pass, most accurate passer, fastest 40, defensive obstacle course(running cones) 10 Points are awarded to the winner of each event 8 for second 6 for third etc. End of the night points are added up and a team is awarded skills champion. You could even break up the divisions 1-3, 4-6, 7-?. I would love to help by getting involved in the organizing of such an event.

You are quite welcome naimaD! Great time had by all on a beautiful evening under the lights at East Side Eagles field. Both games were closely contested with lots of swag handed out. Thanks to our sponsors Tavern United, Winn City Pub, Presto Pizza, and Just for Looks which provided our team captains with lots of prizes. Also a big thanks to Rod at Maaco who donated the wicked trophy for the all-star game. The winners of the two all-star games will have their names engraved in the Maaco all-star trophy for all future players to see.

In game #1 Allan Bloomfield (13 points) of the Anvils and Kanwal Saran (12 points) of the Avengers were named all-star MVPs. Winn City Pub provided those MVPs with some great prizes and gift certificates. In game #2 Steve Nabess of The Deadzone (4 interceptions to set the all-star game record) was named MVP for team grey. The other MVP was split between brothers Adam and Ian Milne of the Rolling 7s. Ian had a 80 yard kickoff return touchdown while Adam kept the chains moving with some clutch catches (and a tag on the aforementioned kickoff return!). Each of the MVPs in game #2 received gift certificates from Presto Pizza and Just For Looks.

The pics for the all-star game are also in, check them out here: http://www.pitfootball.com/albums/417-2011-pit-all-star-game As good as the field was for the all-star game, it will also be the home for all of our championship games this season.
