The PIT had 5 games at Maple Grove on Saturday to kick off our second season of outdoor. Newcomers to the league Rodney Farva and the litre-a-cola, the Brewers, and HFC all were victorious, as were holdovers the Pylons and Big Deal. Some big stats put up on Day 1. Jamie Pittumbur had 3 ints for the Benders, Alex Razos had 4 sacks for Rodney Farva, the Brewer's Andrew Westwood had 14 points and 2 ints to name just a few of the stars of the day.

Sunday will see 6 more games held at Maple Grove, then Monday the PIT for the first time runs two fields concurrently. Thanks to huge jump in registration and the large contingent of new referees who helped us make it happen.

Great start to the season, and good luck to all 48 teams in their quest for good times and championship glory!

Great opening weekend of football has just wrapped up. The PIT had its first overtime game on Sunday with Ninja Militia knocking off The Return of Morningwood Returns 21-20 on the strength of a Dave "Gus" Guspodarchuk to Gordon Fritzshe in the convert rounds. Ninja finished the 2009 season by winning their championship game in overtime and the cardiac kids kept up their OT winning streak in their first game of 2010. Other notable games include: the Winebongers scoring the winning TD over Polk High in the dying seconds of their game, while Thundercats and Face Kick had quite the barn burner.

The PIT also reached another milestone tonight. With the incredible growth of the outdoor league the PIT ran two fields (both fully lined to PIT standards) during the same night for the first time in league history. We had one game going on in the North End and one in the South to accommodate schedule requests. Thanks to all the teams and refs who made the night go off without a hitch!

Must admit it was pretty sweet playing on those grass fields with all those pretty white lines. And also to be able to dive for a ball and not receive any road rash! Great job pit crew!!!

The lines look great but I HAVE NO SKIN ON MY FEET!

I'm praying for some overnight rains!

Thanks Neil and Brett, expect more of the same throughout the season. Barring weather delays we hope to line the fields every 3 weeks - only in the PIT!

Possible game of the (albeit early) season tonight between Rebels and No D. Rebels jumped out to a 20-8 halftime lead, but No D came storming back in the second half to tie the game in the 4th quarter. After a No D turnover deep in Rebels territory Ryan Harbour led the Rebels on a 100 yard drive to retake a 6 point lead. However, the Rebels left 3 minutes on the clock. Martin Windus and company went the length of the field, and on the last play of the game Windus hit Ryan Stewart on a broken play for the tying TD. On the ensuing convert, the Rebels employed the seldom used "0-6 defense" and the Windy/Stewart tandem connected to win the game 27-26.

Division 2 has begun as the 2009 season left off, the most competitive division in touch football today!
