Messages for Divisional Playoff Format & Byes

Jon and crew,
A few of us have had discussions at the fields and we're wondering what the format will be for playoffs this year and which seeds will get byes.
For all the divisions with 7 teams there would seem to be 2 logical scenarios:
(a) Only the 1-seed gets a bye... and the "quarter-final" round plays out like a standard bracket (2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5).
(b) Top 2 seeds get byes... 6 vs 7 wild card play-in game... and then the "quarter-finals" would have the play-in winner vs the 3-seed and 4 vs 5.
Both scenarios would have the same total number of games so we weren't sure what was happening. I personally like scenario (b) because it rewards twice as many teams with a bye after a grueling 18-game season and it also gives the bottom teams a better chance to play one more meaningful game before their seasons end unceremoniously at the hands of higher seeds.
I'm particularly intrigued because my 2 primary teams are currently ranked first and last in their respective divisions. Can you advise? Thanks.

I think we are leaning toward the first scenario, mostly because some teams might have weeks between their final game of the season and their first playoff game. The Blue Bombers didn't work their schedule around us so they have a home game our first day of playoffs which is going to cut into the number of games we can play the first weekend as well. Things may change but that is where we are at the moment.
All decisions will be made regarding playoff format and a schedule posted around the 1st of September. All teams should be prepared to play the 12/13th weekend.
