Messages for Forfeit Rules

While it is awesome that teams are giving a heads up about their forfeits. The other team is still losing a game that they have paid for. So, my question is what do we do about this and are teams paying their default fees? How do we go about or attempting to make teams more proactive in ensuring they have enough players. I know sometimes it is a scramble for players, and our teams are always panicking to make sure we have the right numbers, but in the end we get there. I understand sometimes there is nothing a team can do and a default happens, but are teams being held to the default rules i pulled below from the outdoor rules on this site? It isn't fair to the team who loses a game they paid for, whether they showed up to the field or not. I think having the policy is a great idea, but if teams don't think it will be enforced then i think we will see more and more defaults going forward. Also if teams aren't going to be held to this standard it probably shouldn't be on the rules page. Maybe it is being enforced and i don't know because i have not been in those situations before. Just curious??? I am obviously asking because i would love my beer money for the one game i have now lost :)
Default Policy:
Teams may start the game one person down (ie, start the game with six players). Teams will be given a fifteen minute 'grace' period with penalties accruing for delay of game at game time, the five minute mark, and the ten minute mark of the grace period. After fifteen minutes the game is called as a default. Teams must start the game as soon as they have six players. Time will not be made up for late starts. Games will be shortened accordingly to fit the game within the specified time slot.
The penalty for a 1st default is a $75 fine, along with an automatic loss, minus two points in the standings, and no player on the defaulting team shall be credited with a game played. This fine must be paid to the league administrators prior to the defaulting team’s next game or that game is also forfeited. The defaulting team must also post a $100 bond in case of a second default. This bond must also be provided at the same time as the default fee is paid. The penalty for a 2nd default forfeiture of the $100 bond along with an automatic loss, minus two points in the standings, and no player on the defaulting team shall be credited with a game played. The defaulting team must also post a $125 bond in case of a third default. This bond must also be provided prior to the defaulting team’s next game in case of a third default. The penalty for a 3rd default is forfeiture of the $125 bond and the team will be removed from the league for the season.
Teams that do not have six players present at the time of kickoff will lose choice both halves
Defaulting teams will also lose two points in the standings for each default.
Players on the defaulting team do not receive any credit for a game played.
Players present on the non-defaulting team will receive credit for a game played.
In the event of a double-default neither team will receive credit for a game played and both teams will be fined $50.
Defaulted games will not be rescheduled.
Three defaults by the same team will result in said team being suspended from the remainder of the season after the third default.

this is true. I guess i assumed based on previous conversations that this is who gets the $$.
It makes sense for part of that fee to go to the team who lost a game in their schedule as they did pay to pay 18 games, whether it be 50 or the full 75, i assumed a portion would go to the other team. if a team gets 3 playoff games and plays 21 games, they are essentially paying 90 bucks per game to play in the league.
Anyways, i am sure they will clarify :)

Everybody's relaxed here. The default is not in question Cliff... things happen, fair enough... but what is in question is what the procedure is for paying out/ collecting for a forfeit. In my questions to fellow PIT members it seems there are a few different understandings of what exactly happens with the default money. I don't think asking for clarification is going too far.

Teams get $50 for each default against accrued. Default money will be paid out at the end of the season. Buy beer with it or apply it to registration. $25 goes to the league to pay for the hours of time we put into collecting the default money to provide to the team who was defaulted against.
