This weekend marks the National Tournament where the top teams across Canada battle for touch football supremacy. Fairly strong representation this year as the Doggs, Iced Earth and Polk High will all vie to become the second team in Manitoba history to win a National Championship. The Doggs have the best shot coming in as the fifth ranked team in Canada. And of course the PIT's favorite underdogs the Kitchener Stampeders who jumped from a ranking in the thirties last year all the way up to #8 this year will also have some PIT representation.
Good luck to all teams in their quest for National Championship glory. I will be updating the tournament on Twitter so follow us @PITFootball for weekend updates.

Games have been updated via twitter but here is a quick roundup.
Iced Earth started slow and lost their first two including the Karma bowl. Won two games in a torrential downpour on Sunday which evened the playing field and are now playing in the semis for the national championship!
Doggs did the opposite starting strong and then losing all three games on Sunday. Finished top 10 in Canada but are now eliminated from the top division. Can still win what is the equivalent of division 2.
Polk High struggled to gel at the tournament and went 1-4 and are now eliminated from contention. They did win the title for hardest drinking team in the tournament however.
Kitchener Stampeders came in with a short roster and just couldn't compete with the big boys. Still in contention for the "friendship bowl". Got their only victory of the tournament by virtue of their victory over Iced Earth in the Karma bowl. Only team to rival Polk High on the drinking front.
Follow us on Twitter @PITfootball to see if Winnipeg can crown another national champ!

Tournament of Champions rundown:
Iced Earth lost in semis big time to Toronto Trojans. Heard the game unfortunately wasn't a contest from the beginning as the offense could not move the ball. Top four is not too shabby tho! Toronto went on to the final and were defeated by the Hamilton Piranhas. The Piranhas led by ex-pro QB Jay Hayes are now the two-time defending champions.
The Doggs lost in the rain bowl also to the Toronto Trojans. Too bad that the rain came down so hard that neither the Iced Earth/Spartans game or Doggs/Trojans games were actually touch football games but rather who wouldn't be washed away by the floods. Doggs had the Trojans number until the end of the game but ended up losing 9-6. Most games during the rain bowl didn't even have a touchdown scored (the rain was that crazy). Doggs then lost their A quarterfinal game to the Montreal Magic.
Polk High was in tough finishing the tournament 1-4. Lots of talent on the team however it is quite difficult to go up against the battle hardened Eastern Teams who do these types of tourneys all of the time. Learning experience to come back better next year. Ruled Hess Avenue on Saturday night.
Kitchener Stampeders won BB championship. 1-4 through the first two days defeating only Iced Earth in the Karma Bowl, but turned it on the final day with the help of a few guys that missed all of the Saturday/Sunday games. Kitchener went 3-0 Sunday ultimately defeating the Mississauga Reapers in the final. The Stamps played a total of 7 games across three days. I am now pretty much incapacitated and will be for a while...or until the start of indoor this weekend!
A great weekend of football. Hess Ave was a party Gwizon!!! Too bad the other Winnipeg teams were asleep by midnight as they missed the festivities (the festivities are part of the tournament so you might as well take advantage!). All teams should consider making the trip next year, guaranteed you will have a blast.
