Messages for Championship Night Spring 2012 Season

Comment Posted by jon May 06, 2012 05:24 AM

Congratulations to the record 10 championship teams that participated in the Spring 2012 season. 48 teams participated, double the league registration from our first season in 2010. Some great games last night, including more than a few that came down to the last series of the game to decide the winner. The NFL has nothing on the parity found in the PIT!

We will be getting up the stats, pictures, and game summaries over the next day or so, so check back for a complete rundown of the days action!

On the heels that the PIT became the largest touch football organization in Canada, we present the championship photos from the largest Spring session in PIT history. Congratulations to the ten divisional champions and a shout out to all the players who made the Spring league so successful. Write-ups for the championship games will be out shortly - sorry for the delay its been a crazy couple of weeks getting the outdoor season up and running!

After discussing with some players the last couple of days, the teams that did extraordinarily well opening weekend were those that played Spring ball. Those teams appeared to hit the ground running in outdoor and had a decisive edge on their opponents just warming up for the season. Four seasons of football provides four opportunities for teams to learn new skills and get better.

Here are the pics of the teams you may need to worry about during the outdoor season: http://www.pitfootball.com/albums/473-spring-2012-indoor-champions

Hey Travers,

Try clicking on the picture to enlarge it then right click on the picture and click on "save image as". From there you can save it wherever you want and then upload it to facebook. If you have any problems let me know and I can email you the pictures.

Here is a brief rundown of Spring 2012 Indoor Championship night:

Division 1 Guild of Calamitous Intent defeat Polk High D 19-12
After razing the Amish community Polk High D took on the vaulted Guild of Calamitous Intent. Polk High QB Neil McKernan harnessed his inner Bundy throwing for 2 TDs and hauling in three interceptions, but the game unfortunately ended much in the same way as the TV show - with the Polk High dream crushed, this time on a 60 yard TD reception by Kyle Willis with only a couple of minutes to play. Despite the loss Polk High played a game of bundy-esque proportions. The moral of this game: don’t get married and have kids.

Division 2: Polk High D defeat Herschel & Zbignew of The Amish Community Raise A Barn, Milk A Goat & Form A Football Team Express 32-18
Polk High D came into the final as the underdog having had their butter churned by the Amish community during the regular season. However Herschel’s barn raising and bonnet wearing abilities were ultimately futile against Polk High’s harnessing of electricity, gas powered motor vehicles, and the interweb. Neil McKernan’s five TDs and the cutting of Martin “I used to be cool” Windus were enough to take the stitching out of the Amish’s trophy patch at the quilting bee.

Division 3: Little Domers defeat The Brewers 38-29
The only team to have their logo banned on 4 separate occasions by Scott “Draconian” McArthur, the Domers shoved their version of safe sex down the Brewer’s throat in a “titillating” victory. The Domers gave it to the Brewers hardcore in the first half building a 5-1 touchdown lead at half time. Having blown much of their load early, the Domers were surprised by the Brewers stamina, however the Brewers, in the end, were quite sore from the eventual pounding they took.

Division 4: Bruce FC defeat The Slobberknockers 32-12
The Slobberknockers who have been juggernauts the last two seasons lost their second consecutive championship final to a strong Bruce FC squad. Jermaine Lumsden had 18 points and game MVP Jason Kelly had 3 interceptions, 4 TD passes, and 7 points…not too shabby! Perennial all-star Neil Smalley countered with 2 picks and 6 points for the Slobberknockers who now begin their quest to defend their outdoor championship.

Division 5: U Can't Touch This defeat Angelic Assassins 45-20
If it were up to me the Angels would smite the blight that is the Hammer, but for some reason bad hip-hop seems to get stuck in our cultural fabric not unlike flipped up collars (you deserve a beating if you do this), crocs (wtf?), and Ugg boots (seriously if your girlfriend wears them tell them they make her look f#cking ugly). While those fads are terrible, U Can’t Touch This definitely isn’t, as they crush the double AA’s on rout to another championship. Jesse Clarke inscribes his name yet again on a trophy throwing six TD passes, three of them to Pierre “Don’t call me Garcon” Feng.

Division 6: Solid Oak defeat Snipers 34-33
In the game of the night Solid Oak wins a thriller in this high scoring shoot out. Solid Oak wins their second straight championship, while the Snipers will remain stuck on 5 PIT championships. A dichotomy of play as the Snipers used veteran savvy and a meticulous offense compared to the young and gun Solid Oak. This time youth won but we are sure the Snipers will be able to adapt and come back stronger for it.

Division 7: North End Moose Knuckles defeat The Sellouts 21-3
Just like Solid Oak, the Moose win their second straight championship led by the QB skills of Howie Eugenio. The Sellouts, mostly new tackle players, demonstrated their speed, size and skill throughout the season running roughshod over the division, but there is something to be said about resilience of the guys who know the touch game. The future is bright for the Sellouts but for now touch continues to trump tackle!

Division 8: Benders defeat Guns of Hoculi 39-18
The Benders won a couple of division titles early in the PIT’s history but have been shut out the last couple of years. They regain their spring trophy with an entertaining win over the Guns of Hoculi. The Benders got up early and never relinquished the lead, now the Benders will have to remember to relinquish the championship trophy BEFORE the end of the summer season, unlike the last time they took home a spring championship. Congrats guys! And seriously, bring back our trophy on time!

Division 9: Discount Double Check defeat Diving Snatch 38-28
Like a good neighbor Travers Cummings is there! Travers threw 6 TD passes, three to Kyle Hoesin to defeat the team with the best double entendre name in touch football. Tyler Haluik tried to stem the tide throwing 4 TDs of his own for the snatch but in the end you can’t stop the free advertising for State Farm.

Division 10: Picked Last in Gym Class defeat Herniated Goat Scrotes 12-0
Pick Last avenged their regular season loss to the Goats in this baseball-esque affair that saw only Kelly “Illegally added player” Noga and Lukas Van Walleghem score TDs. Picked Last gave up a record low total of 39 points across their 7 games, which amounts to 5.57 points per game. This defense wouldn’t be Picked Last, but we will see how their fare next year against some higher division caliber.
