For the Players by the Players
Due to the overwhelming success of our indoor league, the PIT League has decided to expand to outdoor as well. There has been incredible growth in touch football over the last 10 years in Winnipeg, growing from a couple of leagues hosting about 30 teams to four leagues with close to 150 teams.
How are we different from other leagues?
We are offering a league that will be capped at between 24-26 teams. Why would we cap a successful product? We want to provide more personal service to our teams. In order to do this our mandate is to remain small and provide the best competition, referees, scheduling, and fields.
Best competition – Just like in the indoor league we will place teams in divisions representing the best competition based on team caliber. Teams will not be allowed to add players to their roster after registration without expressed written consent from the PIT League. This will ensure teams will remain competitive throughout the duration of the season.
Best referees – The PIT league will be the only league to have all 4 Manitoba referees with Tournament of Champions experience (Touch Football Nationals). We have the best referees in the province to help manage the best teams. We are also dedicated to ensuring a full compliment of referees at each game. We know the impact referees can have on the game and no league can say they have better!
Best scheduling – We guarantee the most flexible scheduling policy in Touch Football. We will ensure the schedule is well balanced and guarantee no conflicts between players on multiple teams in the league. No long layoffs between games and the schedule will not be top-heavy (unless requested) as in other leagues with large memberships. We can ensure the best scheduling policy because our league will remain small thus scheduling requests are a breeze.
Best fields – The PIT League will guarantee the best/safest playing surface. Why did teams initially play in the PIT for indoor – best facility (of course all the personal touches helped) By providing the best fields, the teams will come! We already have the standard for touch football in Maple Grove. Little Mountain is back on board with a new field maintenance contract in hand. Stay tuned, we have a couple of other potential gems lined up in central Winnipeg and Transcona!
We also guarantee: All teams treated equitably, no exceptions to stated rules; a hard cap on total teams in the league to ensure divisional parity; free schedule requests with consistent scheduling; same night game card and statistics entry; 24 hour response to questions/league issues; same day tiebreakers (converts) in the event of a regulation tie;
and many sponsors and free swag to hook teams up with!
Our mandate continues to be 'for the players by the players'. If you liked the indoor league, you will love what we have in store for outdoor! Check out the teams page for everyone we currently have lined up for our summer 2009 inaugural season! Contact us for further info.
Cost is $1350 (includes insurance) for 18 games plus playoffs. Cheques can be made out to Jon Franklin or Scott McArthur. Registration will take place on Monday April 20th at Earls on Main Street (191 Main Street) between 7:00 and 10:00 but arrangements can be made for earlier payment if requested.

Hey Jonny, just wanted to give you props on the schedule, as it was not my doing. I noticed that games are starting at 6:15 instead of the regular 6pm from earlier in the year(less daylight, earlier sunset). I think this is great for the people who work until 5pm and live on the other side of the city. I would think most people would like to warm up a little before playing.
