Messages for New Scheduling Request Form Information

Comment Posted by jon Oct 11, 2024 11:12 PM

The upcoming schedule will be formulated using preferences and requests communicated via the SKEDBUILDER Schedule Preferences Form. Please click on the link below to access your form. Any team conflicts (players on your team who are on another team) must be communicated by responding directly to this email. No texts, or discussion in other formats will be accepted. We do not know the teams of other players. If you don't know the team name for a conflict, we cannot help. Do not tell us "All of Jay's teams". That will not be accommodated.

The deadline to submit the form is set for October 18th at 8:00 PM - unfortunately, any form submitted after this deadline risks not being factored into the scheduling algorithm. Thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out the form - we promise to do our very best to accommodate all of your preferences.

**** INSTRUCTIONS **********************
Please provide ratings for slots (orange column).
- 'X' identifies a slot as a BLACKOUT which virtually guarantees that you will not be scheduled in the corresponding slot (see notes on FLEX below)
- '0' identifies a slot as very unfavorable
- '1' identifies a slot as unfavorable
- '2' identifies a slot as slightly unfavorable
- '3' identifies a slot as slightly favorable
- '4' identifies a slot as favorable
- '5' identifies a slot as very favorable

Please provide ratings for dates (orange column).
- 'X' identifies a date as a BLACKOUT which virtually guarantees that you will not be scheduled in the corresponding date (see notes on FLEX below)
- 'Y' identifies that you are available to play on a given date

See 'FORM REQUIREMENTS' section on the form to see what constitutes a valid form.
**** FLEX ******************************

FLEX is a measure of how flexible you are with respect to scheduling - it's all about options and the more options you give, the easier it is to schedule you. It is essentially the weight that your preferences carry when the algorithm makes scheduling decisions. A higher FLEX means your preferences carry more weight and vice-versa.
FLEX is negatively affected by BLACKOUTS - as you use up blackouts on slots and/or dates, you effectively limit the number of fields in which the algorithm can place you making it tougher to satisfy requests across the board.
FLEX is positively affected by total points (ratings) spent - the more you spend, the easier it is for the algorithm to satisfy you (and vice-versa).

**** TIPS/RECOMMENDATIONS **************
- BLACKOUTS: Use where absolutely necessary (if your team risks forfeiting in that slot/date).
- SLOTS: Use '0' if you really dislike a slot but wouldn't forfeit if scheduled there.
- SLOTS: Make use of all ratings in order to properly communicate your most favorable, favorable, indifferent, unfavorable and most unfavorable slots.
- Don't overthink and don't worry too much about FLEX! Just be as honest as possible about your blackouts!

Here is a YouTube link for more information on how best to fill out your forms:

Remember - the less requests you have, the more likely you will have those requests honored.
Only book off times you 100% will default in. If one person can't make that day, don't book it off! Your flex will suffer!
Of note, you will not see your team's flex change with multi-team players on your roster. If you are conflicted with many other teams, that will reduce your flex and your requests will be harder to fill. Four players playing on four different teams, will reduce your flex in the same was as 1 player playing on four different teams. If you don't get your requests, it may be due to all of your conflicts with other teams!
No late requests will be honored, remember the deadlines!

A reminder - you must reply to this email with your player conflicts by the deadline! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. THE SCHEDULE CANNOT BE MODIFIED ONCE IS HAS BEEN CREATED. Follow us on Instagram @pitfootball for more information.
