The Football Manitoba/PIT Football u18 Flag league playoffs begin January 14th. Below are all of the tiebreaking scenarios for our first ever season of Fall indoor u18 flag!
Tiebreakers:
Wins
Head-to-head
If teams played twice during the regular season and both teams won a game, points for and against in those head-to-head games
If teams didn't play twice, overall points against
If three teams were tied and we had to go to the third or fourth tiebreaker, once one team was removed from the tiebreaker (they won a tiebreaker), the remaining two teams would revert back to the start of the tiebreakers system to break their tie.
u10 Division 1:
Primetime (1) vs Flying Squirrels (4)
Mini Misfits (2) vs Junior Rifles (3)
u10 Division 2:
Team Red Bull (1) vs Gridiron Gang (4)
Jr Gotham Knights (2) vs Team Powerade (3)
Team Red Bull and Jr Gotham Knights were tied at 8 points. Team Red Bull had more wins (4) than Gotham Knights (3), so they finish 1st.
Team Powerade, Gridiron Gang, and Mini Bulldogs were tied at 7 points and all teams had 3 wins. They have not all played each other so the tiebreaker goes to overall points against. Team Powerade had the fewest points against (133) so they finish 3rd in Div 2. The remaining two teams revert back to the first tie breaking procedure. On head-to-head, Gridiron Gang and Mini Bulldogs tied 6-6, so the tiebreaker goes to overall points against. Gridiron Gang has fewer points against (155) than Mini Bulldogs (158), so they receive the 4th seed in division 2, while the Mini Bulldogs are relegated to Division 3.
u10 Division 3:
Mini Bulldogs (1) vs Turfcats (4)
Raptors (2) vs North Stars (3)
Raptors and North Stars were tied at 4 points, and each had 2 wins. They did not play each other during the regular season. Raptors had fewer overall points against (146) than North Stars (209), so they finish 2nd.
U12 Recreational Division 1:
Avalanche (1) vs South East Jets (4)
Gold Lions (2) vs Gotham Knights (3)
Southeast Jets and Ball Hawks were tied at 6 points, and each had 3 wins. They played each other twice in the regular season and each won one game. In the head-to-head games, Southeast Jets had the greater point differential (+21) so they finish 4th, whereas the Ball Hawks are relegated to Division 2.
U12 Recreational Division 2:
Ball Hawks (1) vs Prowlers (4)
Winnipeg Falcons (2) vs Play Busters (3)
U12 Competitive Division:
Power O (1) vs winner Hawkeyes/Lightning Strike
Winter Warriors (2) vs winner Wild Bunch/Blue Lions
Wild Bunch (3) vs Blue Lions (6)
Hawkeyes (4) vs Lightning Strike (5)
Winter Warriors and Power were tied at 14 points, and each had 7 wins. They played each other twice during the regular season and each won one game. In the head-to-head games, Power O had the greater point differential (+1), so they finish 1st. Hawkeyes and Wild Bunch were tied at 10 points, and each had 5 wins. Wild Bunch won the head-to-head game, so they finish 3rd.
U14 Recreational Division:
Wolverines (1) vs Turf Terror (4)
Gryphons (2) vs Misfits (3)
Wolverines and Gryphons were tied at 8 points, and each had 4 wins. Wolverines won both head-to-head regular season games, so they finish 1st.
U14 Competitive Division:
Cheeto Banditos (1) vs winner Sentinels/Eagles
Bulletproof (2) vs winner Rebels/Thundercats
Rebels (3) vs Thunder Cats (6)
Sentinels (4) vs Eagles (5)
U16 Recreational Division:
Bisons (1) vs winner ShaBoom/Silly Salamanders
Pink Nail Thieves (2) vs winner Fish/Thunderstruck
The Fish (3) vs Thunderstruck (6)
ShaBoom (4) vs Silly Salamanders (5)
The Silly Salamanders played one extra game due to an uneven division prior to the realignment. Their loss in the final regular season game on January 7 will not count towards their record. This does not change the final standings.
Varsity Division:
Mustangs - Reid (bye)
Amigos (1) vs winner Falcons/Northern Ballers
Southside Titans (2) vs winner Underdogs/Wrecking Crew
Underdogs (3) vs Wrecking Crew (6)
Falcons (4) vs Northern Ballers (5)
Mustangs - Reid and Amigos were tied at 14 points and each had 7 wins. They played each other twice during the regular season and each won one game. In head-to-head games, Mustangs - Reid had the better point differential (+29), so they finish 1st and receive the week 1 bye. Falcons and Underdogs were tied at 10 points, and each had 5 wins. Underdogs won the head-to-head game on December 17, so they finish 4th.
Good luck to all of our teams in their quest for championship glory! All teams will write their names into the history book as the first teams to take home a championship in the Fall season of flag indoor! Teams are reminded that they can still register for the Winter session of flag. Check out all the information here: https://flagmanitoba.com/2022/11/25/5558-winter-flag/
