Hi everyone, the Fall schedule is now complete and can be found here: https://pit.redzoneleagues.com/seasons/1844-fall-indoor-2021/games/all/11
Of note, we had more requests this season than we have ever had previously and this put some real constraints on scheduling. We had over 20 teams with at minimum 12 conflicts and about 10 teams with 20+ conflicts. With that many conflicts it becomes impossible for teams not to have players miss some games. Additionally, field requests get thrown out at that point as all the conflicts get brought into the same facility to prevent as much driving from one facility to another as possible (which still exists). So if your team wanted U of M and you have a bunch of conflicted teams, you might get brought into the other facility. Opponents of these teams are unfortunately subjected to the same issue.
Lastly, with a six week season, many teams booked off two weeks of the season and said they had no issues playing "additional games" on the weekends that they were free. This too drags other teams into playing multiple games on the same weekend. So, it is impossible to give that much time off in a six week season.
For the first time in a long while, we have received a few complaints about scheduling and we apologize. Mathematically, some requests were simply impossible, others unrealistic. We will be changing our request forms going forward to limit the number of requests, it has simply become impossible to accommodate. Unfortunately, requests are becoming demands that both elicit anger if they are not followed and adversely affect your opponents. Remember if you request only garden city, you are going to have opponents who request U of Manitoba. If you request late games, you are going to have opponents that want early games. I think some have lost sight that other teams also have requests and can't understand why they didn't get all 47 requests that they made on their forms.
We are still going to offer the most flexibility of scheduling in recreational sports - we defy anyone to find a league that does more to accommodate their players than we do, but the number of requests, days off, and conflicts necessitate a change going forward to the schedule requests.
