Has the Province given any sort of update as to what protocols would have to be in place in order to salvage the outdoor season this year? Just curious.

We have scheduled meetings with Football Manitoba regarding the creation of a back-to play-protocol. The protocols must be passed by Manitoba Health before a season can proceed. Ideally we will have a submission document to Manitoba Health in the near future. There are many obstacles around social distancing that football has to overcome that other sports like golf, tennis, or softball don't have. Boxing and football were sports singled out by Manitoba Health as being particularly challenging to get back onto the field. Each sport is different, so Manitoba Health is not providing a set of standardized protocols to be adhered to. It is up to each sport to make recommendations and then Manitoba Health will make a decision on safety, and if all goes well, a timeline to return to play.

At a time when we are able to return to play there will be some changes in how we play the game, and we will need everyone on board with changes to ensure we can deliver league play safely. One bad apple (team or even a single player) has the potential to put an end to a season quite quickly. We are committed to getting out onto the field, but in a way that provides a safe playing environment for our membership.

We will keep everyone updated as to our progress.

Respectful bowing after games instead of handshaking?
