This past summer season we inducted the 2017 Hall of Fame Class. We have updated the HOF and are now paying homage to some of the greatest touch football players in Manitoba history.

The legendary Bill Telford becomes the second person to be inducted into the Veterans category of the Manitoba Touch Football Hall of Fame. The criteria for the contributors category is as follows:
"To be considered for selection in the Veterans category a player’s or Team's competitive career must have primarily occurred prior to 2008 (the inaugural year of the PIT Football League). There is no minimum win or statistical criterion to be selected for this category as many statistics were not kept prior to 2008. Players and/or teams from all leagues in Manitoba's History of Touch Football may be considered in the Veterans category as we pay homage to the pioneers of the game of touch football."

Bill began playing touch football in the mid-1970's where he helped found the Ratz, a team who played in the top division for almost their entire existence. Bill has been credited as the first quarterback to perfect the intermediate pass in touch football, a pass most quarterback's don't dare to try! At their zenith in 1985, The Ratz won the intermediate A division at Nationals. This was the first ever intermediate championship at Nationals for a Manitoba team. Since that time, the Assassins, Eagles, and Avengers have all won the Intermediate championship. The Ratz are part of very rarified company in the Province and were the first to win a National level championship!

A few highlights:
4 Manitoba titles
1 A (intermediate) National Title - the first Manitoba team to do so!
25 years as a team.
After a 10 year retirement, the Ratz came back in 2009 and played in the 2nd division...making it all the way to the championship game. A remarkable accomplishment as a team and a testament to Bill Telford's prowess as a quarterback. After that game, Bill Telford retired knowing he could still compete with the best the province had to offer.

The PIT Crew would like to congratulate Bill Telford on his well deserved selection into the Manitoba Touch Football Hall of Fame!
