Red River Steakhouse is providing a gift certificate worth $30 to the female player in the PIT who best demonstrates skill, sportsmanship and determination in the game of touch football. The PIT is a forerunner in increasing female participation in the sport and we want to reward those players who are blazing a trail for female football players in the province.
Rookie PIT Football player Avni Jain has taken the coed division by storm, scoring 20 points through just two games in leading newcomers Tom Bradycardia to a tie for first place with an undefeated 2-0 record. Avni has already put her sites on being one of the top female players in the province as evidenced by her circus catches and blazing speed. Avni is currently in fifth place in coed scoring (behind who else, but scoring leader Courtney Dyck). Not bad for someone with two games under their belt. These ladies can play.

Veteran Jennifer Keith had two sacks for the Dillos North coed team last week to secure her player of the week status. Jennifer has played fullback for the Winnipeg Wolfpack and also plays in the men's divisions with the Akron Professionals (indoor) and Fail Mary (outdoor). A defensive specialist on the touch field, offense on the tackle field, Jennifer has become quite the well-rounded player! For her efforts and sportsmanlike play Jennifer will enjoy a gift certificate from Red River Steak House for her efforts!

Jessica Smilar of the Coed Free Agents is your newest MVP recipient. Jessica has taken the coed league by storm, scoring 14 points through her first two games, two more than her previous scoring total over the past three seasons combined! Playing center for the coed free agents, Jessica has become the go to receive and scored the winning touchdown on the final drive for the coed free agents in their first ever game.

Ireland Bayak is one of our coed newcomers this season and is on almost a sack a game pace in her first season. Currently tied for fifth in the Coed division Ireland has shut down opposing quarterbacks for Show Me Your TDs. This new team exemplifies what our coed division is about, demonstrating both skill and sportsmanship. Once they have a few games under their belt they will be a force come playoffs and into the future!

Charlene Au had herself a game last weekend, scoring both a touchdown and a convert, and making several huge defensive stops, she helped lead her team to victory against the Dillos North! These two teams will renew acquaintances this week in the first round of the coed recreational playoffs, with Char eyeing some more points! Winner will play for the rec coed championship of the world.
