Usually, you would reach out to your opponent, and reach out to other teams (I start within my division) to see if they'll switch with you.
The easiest thing to do is see if you have an opponent who will play in your place in the game you're concerned about, and then take their game against that same opponent.
Cobras-Ninjas in Game A
Farmers-Ninjas in Game B
Becomes
Farmers-Ninjas in Game A
Cobras-Ninjas in Game B
The challenge is when there's not enough time for a switch, or if no one in your division wants to switch. If the latter, then you'll have to reach out to two other teams entirely to see if they'll take your spot and you and your opponent take theirs.
And, once all that's done, you send a note to the Commish and get him to approve it.
At least, that's how I've done it in the past. Simpler might be to see if you can get an okay to use subs, and get some guys from a lower division so you're not accused of using ringers.
