Each indoor and outdoor season the PIT puts out a call for individuals interested in becoming an official.

The PIT football league is Manitoba's largest touch football organization and the largest year-round touch football league in Canada with nearly 400 participating teams. To keep such a large league running smoothly, the PIT is always looking for new officials. The PIT boasts the largest and most competent officiating crew in Manitoba, largely because we are the only league to certify and train our referees. To better prepare new officials for each upcoming season the PIT provides both on field training and certification clinics. The PIT is the first and only four-season touch football league in Manitoba. Officials in the PIT can therefore earn an income all-year round.

The PIT offers the most flexible scheduling in all of touch football. Work full-time, part-time, or casual! We have referees that work every day of the season, some that work weekdays, others weekends, others once a week, others simply pick up open shifts as they arise. We can work around your school, work, family commitments, teams, vacations, whatever. All you need to do is let us know when you want to work and we will make it happen for you.

While previous experience officiating is an asset it is not required. The PIT will provide all training including instruction manuals free of charge. Choose when and where you work and earn up to $28 an hour for indoor and up to $37 a game for outdoor. We offer a flexible work environment and is both fun and rewarding (lots of officials functions and swag!). If interested in training to officiate please contact your PIT Crew and we will hook you up!

In the fall we put on a record 317 games and filled all 634 referee assignments with trained officials. Kudos to the men and women who dedicate their time to ensure that we can play the sport we love to play.

Thanks to the huge initial response from our membership to our posting regarding becoming an official. This weekend we will have quite a few new trainees in the PIT officials academy! Almost all fields will have someone training this weekend, with a couple of rookies and a few tested veterans donning the stripes. We continue to be the only league that certifies its officials both on the field and in the classroom to offer you the best officiating in recreational sports. We still have opportunities for anyone else wanting to join the PIT Crew so please contact us if you want earn your stripes.
