As a Board Member of Football Canada we have been working to standardize fields for non-contact football (touch and flag) for the 5 on 5 game. Football Canada has adopted the IFAF field specifications to ensure touch and flag football leagues are consistent across Canada. The field dimensions adopted by rule can range from a minimum of 56 yards in length to a maximum of 80 yards in length (inclusive of end zones) with a minimum width of 25 yards and a maximum width of 30 yards.

Our fields dimensions are 70 yards by 27 yards well within the specifications for IFAF field regulations for 5 on 5 non-contact football.

Why does this matter? Apart from following the specified guidelines which are now uniform across Canada (similar to guidelines for an outdoor football field) this also allows our league to participate in IFAF sanctioned events. As the only league in Manitoba to play on standardized fields this will open up some great opportunities exclusive to PIT members! Stay tuned as we have some news to this effect coming shortly.
