Messages for Fall 2016 Playoff Seed and Tiebreaker Scenarios
Posted by jon | Nov 28, 2016 01:44 AM |
The standings page has been updated as best we can. With only one weekend remaining it is amazing how little has been decided. Only Coed and Divisions 7 and 9 have the divisions finalized with the remaining 15 divisions coming down to the final weekend of play to decide how plays for championship glory!
REMINDER: Playoffs begin as early as Saturday December 3rd (the playoff schedule for next weekend will be released later today)! All tiebreakers assume no defaults in the final week of play. Our tiebreaker system for playoffs can be found here: http://pitfootball.com/menu/indoor-rules
Here are the only divisional playoff seeds that have been thus far:
Coed Competitive Division:
Flying Squirrels (1) vs Down to Football (4)
Practice Squad Rejects (2) vs There’s No Crying in Baseball (3)
Since there was no head-to-head match-up between all of the teams in coed and the division schedule was unequal There’s No Crying in Baseball slides into the third seed due to their better record (2-1 vs 1-2) against common opponents during the regular season. Down To Football captures the final seed in the top coed division.
Coed Recreational Division:
Coed Free Agents (1) vs South Winnipeg Tiny People (4)
Show Me Your TDs (2) vs East High Wildcats (3)
Coed Free Agents finish with the top seed in the recreational division due to their head-to-head victory over Show Me Your TDs during the regular season.
Division 7:
Free Money (1) vs The Avengers (4)
Sober Living with Jeffrey Jimena (2) vs Miami Sharks (3)
There was a three-way tie for second place! Head-to-head is the first tiebreaker however each team had identical 1 and 1 records, thus head-to-head plus/minus was used to break the three-way tie. Sober Living moves into second place in the division with a plus/minus of +14 (Avengers +5, Miami Sharks -19). After one team establishes a playoff seed the tiebreaker system reverts back to the original tiebreaker rules so the Miami Sharks take a bite out of the third seed in the division due to their regular season victory over the Avengers.
Division 9:
SWC (1) vs The Untouchables (4)
Hurricanes (2) vs Henny and Dams (3)
Hurricanes take the second seed due to their taking the wind out of Henny and Dams in their regular season match up.
As the divisions become decided this upcoming weekend we will be putting up all of the playoff games and updating the playoff seeds/tiebreaker scenarios. Teams should keep checking the website for the updated schedule and you may play as early as December 3rd with all championship games wrapping up by December 10th.
Parity reigns supreme!

With Friday's games in the books we now have the tiebreaker scenarios for a few more divisions! All tiebreakers assume no defaults in the final week of play. Our tiebreaker system for playoffs can be found here: http://pitfootball.com/menu/indoor-rules
Division 4:
Patalia Island (1) vs Vikings (4)
The MegaPowers (2) vs Spanish Channel Newz (3)
Patalia Island finishes first due to their head-to-head victory over the MegaPowers whereas Vikings takes the final spot due to their victory over Ball Cuppage during the regular season.
Division 6:
Those Guys (1) vs Gators (4)
Venum (2) vs Fill Up Her Endzone (3)
Fill Up Her Endzone take the third spot due to their head-to-head victory over the Gators during the regular season.
Division 16:
Free Agents (North) (1) vs Back That Pass Up (4)
Suckskatchewan (2) vs The Dilligafs (3)
Suckstachewan finishes second due to their higher plus/minus (+63) compared to The Dilligafs (+40) against common opponents.
The remainder of the divisions will be updated later today but these three divisions begin their playoffs today so the tiebreakers went up a bit earlier than the others.

The standings page has been completely updated. Two separate four-way ties, plenty of drama, last weekend of games solved most divisions. Perhaps the best parity in league history (in any league???). The tiebreakers only took me half the day to figure out! A link to the full tiebreaker rules can be found here: http://pitfootball.com/menu/indoor-rules
REMINDER: We cannot take into consideration schedule requests for championship night. Multiple team players and the fact if teams request to play on only 1 day for semis and finals it throws the whole division into disarray. Championship finals were announced for December 10th at the beginning of the season. We appreciate your cooperation!
Division 1:
Guild of Calamitous Intent (1) vs Beerhawks (4)
Peril Partnership (2) vs Knights (3)
Knights pull down the third spot by defeating the Beerhawks in the final game of the season!
Division 2:
Mapetown (1) vs The Tribe (4)
Dammit Donald (2) vs Meat's Pizzeria (3)
Mapetown takes home the regular season title by defeating Dammit Donald (although they would have been in Div 1 if they hadn't given up a Hail Mary in the final regular season game :) )
Division 3:
Brewers (1) vs Kings (4)
D1 Bound (2) vs Strange Brew (3)
Amazingly four teams tied with identical 2-3 records for the final two playoff spots. Head-to-Head was used as the first tiebreaker and two teams (Kings and Strange Brew) finished with 2-1 records and two teams with 1-2 records. The teams with 2-1 records move up due to their better head-to-head records, with Strange Brew getting the third seed due to their victory over The Kings who ultimately finish fourth. Just an amazing division, perhaps the best ever as every team had at least two victories during the regular season and with each team playing the final weekend every point scored contributed to the four-way tie.
Division 4:
Patalia Island (1) vs Vikings (4)
The MegaPowers (2) vs Spanish Channel Newz (3)
Patalia Island finishes first due to their head-to-head victory over the MegaPowers whereas the Vikings take the final spot due to their victory over Ball Cuppage during the regular season.
Division 5:
Silverbacks (1) vs The Bucks (4)
Northbay (2) vs The Cats Meow (3)
Silverbacks take home the divisional crown by beating Northbay during the regular season. The Cats Meow finish third by defeating the Bucks. Parity reigns!
Division 6:
Those Guys (1) vs Gators (4)
Venum (2) vs Fill Up Her Endzone (3)
Fill Up Her Endzone take the third spot due to their head-to-head victory over the Gators during the regular season.
Division 8:
Young Guns (1) vs Chuggernauts (4)
Stop Beating Your Peterson (2) vs F*ck the Young Guns (3)
A three-way tie for the final three spots saw each team go 1-1 in head-to-head action so plus/minus in those games was used to decide the first entry into the playoffs. With that Stop Beating Your Peterson takes second with a plus/minus of +17 (Chuggernauts +4, F*ck The Young Guns -21). With that tiebreaker decided head-to-head was used and F*ck The Young Guns take third by virtue of their head to head victory over the Chuggernauts.
Division 9:
SWC (1) vs The Untouchables (4)
Hurricanes (2) vs Henny and Dams (3)
Hurricanes take the second seed due to their taking the wind out of Henny and Dams in their regular season match up.
Division 10:
Average Sized Giants (1) vs Philip Ontacos (4)
Moose Knuckles (2) vs The Bullet Club (3)
Average Sized Giants take the Division by defeating the Moose Knuckles and same goes for Philip Ontacos who snuck into the playoffs the final regular season game by virtue of their defeat of the Filthy Casuals.
Division 11:
VaudeVillians (1) vs Mayhem (4)
Locker Room Banter (2) vs The Upper-Deckers (3)
What no tiebreakers, the only division without one! So much parity!
Division 12:
Sh*tHawks (1) vs 1 In the Pocket 2 In the Endzone (4)
A535 Heat (2) vs 1017 Brick Squad (3)
Sh*tHawks win the regular season Crown due to their victory over A535 Heat on the final day of the season. Unbelievable how the last weekend had so many important games!
Division 13:
South Free Agents (1) vs Jimmy Harris and the Granny Boyz (4)
Louisville Brekenridges (2) vs Short Drive (3)
Jesus! Another 4-way tie!!!! This time each team was tied for 1st-4th with identical 3-2 records...pulls out calculator and throws it against wall. Head-to-Head was used as the first tiebreaker and two teams finished with 2-1 records and two teams with 1-2 records. The teams with 2-1 records (Free Agents and Louisville), with the Free Agents getting the top seed due to their heaad-to-head victory over Louisville. The remaining two teams finished third and fourth with Short Drive finishing third due to their victory over Jimmy Harris during the regular season. Some great competition!
Division 14:
Onslaught (1) vs No "Punt" Intended (4)
Waverly Warriors (2) vs The Brainard Socialites (3)
No "Punt" Intended defeat the Guardians during the regular season to sneak into the last playoff spot. Waverly Warriors take second spot by defeating The Brainard Socialites in a barnburner 46-40 during the regular season. Grudge match is now set for playoffs!
Division 15:
The Quick 6 (1) vs Illegal Contact (4)
The Wickermen (2) vs The Swaffelins (3)
The Wickermen take second spot by virtue of their head-to-head victory over the Swaffelins during the regular season.
Division 17:
TD Twisters (1) vs That One Brown Guy (4)
The Bill Arnotts (2) vs Wild Things (3)
That One Brown Guys slips to the bottom of the standings due to their default during the regular season (do not default games!). The Bill Arnotts take the second spot by virtue of defeating the Wild Things during the regular season.
The playoff schedule may be up tonight, and if not tomorrow latest!
Parity reigns supreme!
