Boston Pizza is back sponsoring the PIT membership for the duration of the Fall season. Boston Pizza has generously provided a personal pizza to enjoy at any of Winnipeg's Boston Pizza locations to the player deemed to have exemplified sportsmanship, dedication and mad skillz each week.

The first Boston Pizza Player of the Week (POW) goes to Andre Vien of That One Brown Guy who lit up week #1 with two fantastic games. That One Brown Guy went 2-0 opening weekend in large part to Andre's 2 sacks, three interceptions, and four touchdown passes in the first game and 13 points and four more touchdown passes the second game. While it is obviously early in the season the stat line of 2 sacks, 3 INTs, 8 touchdown passes and 13 points actually puts Andre in the top 3 in every statistical category...not a bad way to kick off the season!

After that weekend of play, Andre will need his own best of montage.

Bernie Lerabie of the Dragins takes home the second Boston Pizza player of the week (POW) award after scoring two touchdowns and a convert, constituting all of the Dragins points, in a narrow defeat to the Upper Deckers on the weekend. Bernie caught a touchdown and ran a couple in as the Upper Deckers had considerable difficulty stopping him from moving the ball. Those 19 points moved Bernie into second place in the Division 11 points race in the process.

Jeezy-Petes those stats are good.

Our third week of football saw Eric Penner of the Fighting Amish score a touchdown, make some great catches in traffic and play some lock down defense. Others may have had a better day on the stat sheet but having watched most of the Amish game last weekend, Eric played lights out and will take home a well deserved Boston Pizza player of the week (POW) award. The Fighting Amish have a great young team that just needs a few games under their belt to learn the game and when they do teams will be put on notice!

Eric will be shouting "I'm Pacman Jones!" soon enough

In Week #4 Tyler Slobogian scored a touchdown and had two interceptions in the All-Canadian Growers game versus the A535 Heat. Despite only playing two games in the PIT Tyler is already on top of his game and is currently third in Division 12 in interceptions. The All-Canadian growers are part of the nearly 40 new teams in the PIT this fall and will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come!

Tyler’s play may get him and invitation to play in Fort Kickass.

Congratulations from the PIT Crew!

In Week #5 Patrick Smoke smoked the competition putting up three touchdowns and adding two interceptions as Meat's Pizzeria not only won their first game of the season but knocked off the top seeded and undefeated Peril Partnership while they were at it. Patrick is now tied for 10th place in Division 1 in scoring and is 5th place in interceptions proving that he is a double threat on the field. All teams in Division 1 will make playoffs and will split into two divisions after the conclusion of the regular season this weekend. While Meat's Pizzeria isn't going to gun for Division 1 they are my bet to take Division 2...never count these guys out, playoff time is their time as their multiple trophy engravings can attest to!

Patrick Smoke is a real smackaroonie.

Congratulations from the PIT Crew!

The Swaffelens Marc-Andre Longval finished the Fall 2016 regular season off in style going off for a touchdown, two converts, a sack and an interception. The Swaffelens were in a must-win situation the final weekend and they were able to ride Marc to the playoffs with their victory over Suckskatchewan. Marc’s two touchdown performance also moved him up to a fifth-place finish in Division 15.

Yuuuuuuuuuuuup. He’s got monster hands.

Congratulations, your Boston Pizza gift certificate will be attached to a future game card!
