The PIT honored the best referees in recreational sports tonight with a windup of record proportions. We had twenty referees show up to partake in the festivities at our sponsor Boston Pizza (shout out for the great hospitality tonight). We will have more pics and information up shortly but its always good to give back to the ladies and gentlemen who allow us to play the game we love to play. For that we say thanks!

So far we have almost ten new referees training over the next couple of weeks to add to our pantheon of reffing greats!

Here are some pictures from our annual summer referee windup: http://pitfootball.com/albums/878-officials-windup
We had over 20 referees in attendance a record for attendance. The refs were treated to dinner and drinks and our new branded referee jerseys were unveiled along with the Under Armour PIT gear. Each of our referees who officiated over 100 games were given the new shirts and anyone over 50 games were given PIT toques in addition to their all expenses paid evening. Kudos to the best recreational sports officials around!
Of note: The PIT played 638 games in the summer with 3 referee's per game (the only league to offer three referees!). That presented 1914 manned games for our refs with only 4 games the entire summer going without a full compliment of referees, meaning we had 99.8% of all assignments covered for the year and a full compliment of referees to 99.4% of games. Not only are we the only league to offer three referees in Manitoba we are probably the only league in Canada that can hit those kind of numbers. In all four games it was an emergency that prevented the referee's from attending and keeping us from hitting a 100% success rate!
