Boston Pizza is back sponsoring the PIT membership for the duration of the Summer 2016 season. Boston Pizza has generously provided a personal pizza to enjoy at any of Winnipeg's Boston Pizza locations to the player deemed to have exemplified sportsmanship, dedication and mad skillz each week.
The first Boston Pizza Player of the Week (POW) goes to Chris Heidebrecht of the Cheeseheads who put up two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Cheeseheads narrow defeat to the MegaPowers. While the Cheeseheads may not have had the start to the season they hoped for, we know that this veteran team will pull it together and be a contender come playoffs.
While Chris go down as legendary as Slick Ric?
Congratulations, please contact your PIT Crew to pick up your POW award!

In our second week Cory Lussier of the Mustard Tigers wins the Boston Pizza Player of the Week (POW) after scoring a touchdown and hauling in an interception in what turned out to be a very close game with The Kraken. Cory is currently second in the division in interceptions behind fellow Mustard Tiger Ray Zeaton. With those two guys roaming the secondary you know it will only be a matter of time before the Mustard Tigers get their first W.
Chris was hauling in interceptions the day he was born. And on that day the doctor slapped him and Chris slapped him back and then took then nurse on a date.
Congratulations, please contact your PIT Crew to pick up your POW award!

Patrick Thibert of the Dirty Vikings set the league on fire in week #3, registering 9 sacks (yes nine!) in a one point victory over the Benders. Not only was Patrick key in the win, he is currently first overall in the entire league in sacks with 19 and is on pace to obliterate the sack record! For those efforts Patrick will receive the Boston Pizza POW award!
I don’t see no problem, but there is a problem! This guy is simply the best rusher in touch football at the moment!
Congratulations, please contact your PIT Crew to pick up your POW award!

Necessary Roughness won their first game of a the season in Week #4, in no small part due to the three interceptions by Mike Cuma who kept the Cheeseheads offense in check by limiting them to just six points. Through four games Mike is tied for sixth in Division Six in interceptions and through four games is already just two off the pace to best his highest season interception total.
Mike Cuma likes to get funky like a monkey.

Adam Downing is the newest recipient of the POW award after going off for 18 points in the Enforcers victory over the Kings. Adam leads his team in scoring and is currently third overall in points in Division 4/5. The Enforcers won Division 5 last year and are now near the top in Division 4 this summer due in large part to Adam’s continued contributions on the scoreboard.
And you know what, Adam gets off on it!

In our first week in July Trevor Allerton of Bad Company went off for 8 sacks and 20 points in the two games he played, both of them victories. The two wins put Bad Company over the .500 mark for the first time this season and those stats put him in a tie for first in sacks and a tie for 4th in points (coincidentally both ties are with Matt Choi of Dammit Donald). Trevor is also on pace to set the single season sack mark set by John Mergulhao back in 2012. Can Trevor break the record? Time will tell!
Trevor strives to the top.

JJ Mikolash earns the Player of the Week award after iron-manning a victory over the Snappers and throwing for two touchdowns while sacking the Snapper’s quarterback twice in a one point Warriors victory. JJ is now fifth in the division in touchdown passes thrown and is just outside the top 10 in sacks. JJ has also recorded a stat in each of the four categories we cover, a difficult accomplishment for any quarterback to obtain.
The following is a message from JJ Mikolash. Looks like JJ should be a franchise player, not unlike this guy…

Ninja Militia began the month on July with a 3-4 record good for middle of the pack in Divisions 4/5 but after going 5-0 the Militia is now in third place. Mike Froese contributed greatly to that 5-0 record scoring 40 points and recording three interceptions along the way. Mike moved into 7th place in the Division in scoring and 3rd in interceptions all while earning the Boston Pizza POW award.
Mike Froese has paid his dues…not unlike this guy!

Gurnoor Chahal ended July with a bang by single handedly willing the Blue Devils to victory over D.T.F after putting up one of the best games in PIT history. Gurnoor, who currently second in Division 9 in sacks put up eight more in this game, had a safety, intercepted a ball while rushing and scored a touchdown. Not only that but Gurnoor blocked three punts and would have thrown for a touchdown but had a receiver unfortunately drop the TD pass. The three blocked punts alone are probably some kind of record in itself.
With play like that, looking back, it may be that he is best there ever was!

Remember the Titans started off the month of August strong defeating Beeray in a shootout then almost coming back to beat No D in another barnburner just a few days later. In those games Aaron Wold contribute eight touchdown passes, an interception and a sack to the Titans cause. Aaron is now fifth in sacks and fourth in touchdown passes in the division proving he is quite the double threat!
Aaron has got every stat you have ever wanted…much like Rowdy Roddy.

The Kings have come on strong in August after a slow start to the season. These indoor pros are just starting to get a handle on the outdoor games and could be a force come playoffs especially now the Luke Jaccobucci has found his game. In two games in mid-August Luke had 31 points and an interception, not coincidentally in two Kings victories. Luke leads Division 4/5 in points and is currently third in interceptions in what has turned out to be quite the MVP season.
Luke’s time has come!

Jean-Guy Mercier has been throwing darts all season and that continued in the Big Deal/Ninja Militia matchup wherein Jean-Guy helped pull the minor upset throwing five touchdown passes to four different receivers in the process. Big Deal currently sits in seventh place in divisions 4/5 but he is second in the division in touchdown passes. If the defense can step up a little for this team come playoffs Big Deal could be the team to beat!
Every time Jean-Guy throws a touchdown pass, another woman leaves her husband!

The Barley Bros hit the playoffs running winning their final three games of the season including their finale in which Rick Morand had a touchdown a convert and two interceptions. Those stats moved Rick into sixth place in interceptions in Division 7 and ninth in scoring – not bad for a guy who was only able to make it out to eleven games on the season!
Rick doesn't just pick off the passes, he picks up the cotton!

In our first weekend of playoffs Old Skool proved they are not to be counted out, displaying their usual defensive acumen that saw them pitch a shutout. Integral to the cause was Brock Stevenson’s two sacks and a safety which accounted for 25% of Old Skool’s offense as well as this defensive gem ended 8-0. Brock continued his lights out play this season which saw him lead Division 11 in sacks with 21!
You bring Frankie B Ware around that Snake my man and Frankie be gone soon.
