As you have probably read on the site, Ryan Martin a former teammate and player in the PIT passed away last year leaving behind two small children. His best friend Mike Laping along with the PIT are putting together a memorial tournament with all proceeds going to an educational fund for his two kids.
When: Saturday June 18th
Where: St. Pauls High School
Cost: $20 donation per player (or more if you feel generous!)
Time: 10:00am to 7:00pm
Beer Gardens: Yes!
What to come out and not play football but drink beer? Yes! If you would like to come and just enjoy the day, honour our friend, support his kids and have a few beers, it will cost $15 a ticket. There will be lots of other fun activities. SO, FUN FOR EVERYONE!!!! (Door prizes, corn-hole, ladder golf etc.)
Format: 5 on 5 on an indoor sized field (25 x 70 approximately).
Skill level: Purely Recreational!!!!!! You should have beers in your system to play, the tournament is all for fun to honour a friend!
For more information or to register a team contact your PIT Crew or Mike Laping at mike.laping@gmail.com

Here is the schedule for the weekend: http://pitfootball.com/seasons/1532-summer-outdoor-2016/games/playoffs
Its awesome that we received registration from eight teams in year one. Ideally this tournament can run each year and as we become organized we can make the tournament grow for a great cause. The registered teams can be viewed here: http://pitfootball.com/standings

Hey all,
Due to some injuries the Aces are looking for two more players for the Ryan Martin Tournament. Good group so far that is excited to play and drink some beers for a good cause. Text Chris at 204-782-0545 if you want to play. $20 per person and first game is 10 AM, last game at 4 PM so its a full day commitment .

Good a.m. guys/gals
I just wanted to put out a big THANK YOU to Mike Laping for putting on this tournament(I am sure it was a ton of work). It was great to see so many old faces! The day was so much fun. I know my fellow teammates really enjoyed themselves especially the ladies who commented multiple times how great the guys were to play against with their sportsmanship and how encouraging they were towards them. The tournament truly embodied what Ryan was about. He displayed true sportsmanship on/off the field and was a great friend to those who knew him. Another big thank you to all the volunteers who helped put this event on. From the cooks and bartenders to the refs, big Kurt and Melissa whom did an awesome job reffing by themselves!!! I hope the tournament becomes a regular event.

Hi All,
First, I want to thank everyone who came out! It was a much larger success than I could have hoped for. We raised a lot of money for those kids, so I thank you.
A very special thank you to Jon Franklin and the Pit. No way I could have done this without you. Also, Melissa and Kurtis for coming and doing an awesome job reffing.
I had a private conversation with a great guy I just met there. (you know who you are...Smally) He spoke of the community inside touch football and the brotherhood we all share in. This event was the epitome of that. You all amaze me with your generosity, commitment to cause and all and all being completely awesome. I have never been so awe struck as I was Saturday. I hope if you saw tears in my eyes you understand completely, these were tears of absolute joy.
I love you all. Thank you for making the first Ryan Martin Memorial Touch-football tournament a success. I promise it will now be an annual event!
NEXT YEAR WILL BE BIGGER AND BETTER!!!!
