Hi everyone, there are some youth teams looking for a coach to help them learn the game of football in a fun environment. If you wanted to give back to the community or if you have kids playing in the Football Manitoba flag league already here is your chance to get involved. Below is a message from the Programs Coordinator at Football Manitoba. Please contact Marc or myself if you want to jump on this opportunity.
"My name is Marc Paquette, Program Coordinator at Football Manitoba. It is my pleasure to be organizing the Flag Football League for Winnipeg youth between ages 7 and 17 this year.
As of right now there have been roughly 1050 athletes signed up to this league and they are patiently waiting to start playing their first games, taking place at Investors Group Field on April 30th and May 1st. Football Manitoba is also excited to be sending teams to represent Manitoba at the Flag Nationals Tournament taking place in Halifax! The reason for this e-mail is to request your assistance with a few remaining teams without a coach. There is no better group of people to make this request to than individuals who are currently playing flag and touch!
There are roughly 6 teams who are in need of a coach. These teams are located throughout Winnipeg in different age groups so if you have a preference on who you would be willing to coach I would be able to accommodate. If a coach is not identified, these young athletes run the risk of not being able to participate this year. The season ends at the end of June. There is a 7 week season and 2 weeks of playoffs. There is one double header a week plus practices. So they would play the same day every week (ex: 12year olds always play on Wednesdays) with games starting at 6:30 and 7:30 plus practices that the coaches can choose how often when and where. The advantage of coaching is you get to choose all of the practice details.
What Football Manitoba can do if you decide to help out is to provide all certification (for free) and also multiple recourses throughout the year. This also includes all equipment (also free)
If you or anyone you know is interested in this opportunity please don’t hesitate to contact myself. I will be able to answer any questions regarding the process of coaching this year. Your help you be extremely appreciated!
Thank you in advance and I hope to talk to you soon!"
