The PIT is proud to announce we have re-partnered with Maple Grove Rugby Park to host games for the duration of the upcoming 2016 Summer season. For those of you who were with us our first season you will know that we played out of the park and that Maple Grove fields are full regulation size, very well maintained and will instantly become the best fields in the PIT.

The partnership with Maple Grove will include one field each day for the duration of the season with the exception of a few selected dates (e.g., Super Spike, Rugby finals, etc.) in which the Park has been booked. The partnership will include having the on-site lounge open each of the days we play so that teams can pick up a much needed Gatorade before their games or have a drink or two after. We have also come to an agreement that there would be no gate fee. The introduction of a gate fee was one of the reasons we moved away from Maple Grove originally.

The new executive from Maple Grove is keen to make this a great working relationship and beyond committing to keeping the lounge open and gate fees off the table they will also have a dedicated greens crew to ensure fields are cut, lined and watered. The greens crew kept the fields in great shape the first year we played so we are sure that trend will continue in our second go round. The addition of Maple Grove to our stable of fields will probably spell the end of some of our other fields assuming they are not required for rain outs or other unforeseen events. Maple Grove will serve to replace Bridgewater Park and Sansome school both of which were not regulation sized fields and were poorly maintained by the city. The trend in recreational sports is to move away from city fields and Maple Grove will help the league both cut its dependence on city fields while providing a better and more enjoyable playing surface for our membership. If things go well this year at Maple Grove the league also reserves the right to increase its field usage in 2017.

I for one am definitely looking forward to get back on the fields at Maple Grove and frequent their on-site lounge this summer!

For the players, by the players!

The PIT Crew continues its work on outdoor fields and has officially signed on with Maple Grove for the summer. Games will be played for the duration of the summer with the possibility of expanding our usage next year. Maple Grove #5 http://www.pitfootball.com/locations is where we will primarily be situated.

Barring unforeseen circumstances the lounge should be open each day of the week we are out at Maple Grove. Teams are encouraged to frequent the bar...and if you are not a drinker there is plenty of water and Gatorade on site. So forgo your 7-11 and get your in game beverages at Maple Grove. There will be no food served at the lounge however they do have deals with a local pizza place to bring in pizza to teams who want to order to have with their fully stocked beverage menu.

The Maple Grove Lounge will be closed on Saturday due to a wedding taking place. Heads up that your cheap beers will need to be found elsewhere! The lounge will be back open for Sundays games.

Maple Grove was lined this week to upgrade all of the field accoutrements expected in the PIT. Maple Grove has hit its strive and hopes to have the field relined every couple of weeks for the duration of the summer.

A big thanks to Brent who single handed re-lined Maple Grove yesterday. That is a HUGE undertaking and Brent was able to complete the field in good time considering it takes three of us at least two hours to complete a field lining. Next time you see Brent maybe he will reveal his secret identity to you.

Its people like Brent who continue to make the PIT the best recreational sports league around.

Maple Grove was lined for the last time this season, just in time for the playoffs. A big thanks to Brent who once again got in and cut and lined to ensure we are playing on the best lined fields in touch football! The season of field lining comes to a close, see what your playoff fields will look like here: http://pitfootball.com/albums/868-maple-grove-playoff-edition

Maple Grove was lined for the forth time this season ahead of the full slate of games this weekend. A big thanks to Maple Grove for helping us maintain the linings every two weeks, this despite all of the rain that we have had this season. Best fields in touch football!
