The sold out 2016 Winter season begins today. 133 teams will vie for 24 championship trophies! Back this season are the Masters and Coed divisions with a record 11 coed teams registering. This allowed the PIT for the first time to create two distinct divisions (competitive and recreational) which should allow for greater parity within the coed divisions. A record 160 teams registered on the website for the Winter, unfortunately 27 teams didn't get their registration in on time. As a heads up, Spring season will start in April with prime time offerings, teams should start to get organized early to ensure they make the cut for the next registration period.
Also for the first time ever the PIT will be offering a U20 flag football league in partnership with both Football Manitoba and the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL). It has been years since touch football was aligned with Football Manitoba and it is great that we can once again partner to expand the profile of football across all age groups. The winners of the Flag league are playing for a free trip to Nova Scotia May long weekend to represent Manitoba in the National flag football championships courtesy of Football Manitoba! A great way to kick off the partnership between the PIT, Football Manitoba and the WHSFL.
