Boston Pizza is back sponsoring the PIT membership for the duration of the Fall 2015 season. Boston Pizza has generously provided a personal pizza to enjoy at any of Winnipeg's Boston Pizza locations to the player deemed to have exemplified sportsmanship, dedication and mad skillz each Friday night.
The first winner of the Boston Pizza POW award for the Fall season is Jarret Friesen of Down to Football, the PIT's newest coed team. Jarret had four interceptions and a touchdown in both his first and DTF's first game in the PIT, not coincidentally also leading his team to their first victory. Through the first third of the season Jarret also leads the coed division in interceptions.
Much like Mike Tyson, Jarret is on the case!
Give cooking the finger and hit up Boston Pizza after your games for some great team specials on pizzas and beer.
Congratulations Jarret, your Boston Pizza GC will be attached to a future game card.

Our Week 2 winner of the POW award is Carl Adair of Wildthings who had two touchdowns to go along with two interceptions in a narrow loss to the Free Agents. Carl obviously has a great two-way game sitting in the top-10 in Division 15 in interceptions and just outside the top-10 in scoring.
Once the divisions get split for playoffs in Division 15 the Wildthings will definitely be in the hunt for a championship when the new playoff season starts!

Drew Hawkings is the Week #3 player of the week after throwing for five touchdown passes in a one point loss to Venum. Drew led his team from behind with two TD passes in the last five minutes of the game including a touchdown on the final play after throwing a touchdown on was thought to be the final play before that TD was called back on a penalty! The Fort Rouge Boys were down by a single point and played the game right, going for the two-point convert for the win rather than tie the game and go to overtime. Unfortunately the convert fell short, but Drew’s game definitely did not!
When running that three-minute drill to end the game, Drew definitely did not have time for bird sex!

Our Week #4 crown goes to David Ernewein of Legends of the Fall who had an interception to go along with six touchdown passes in a 38-13 victory over White Men Can Jump. David was a late addition to the Legends having been placed on the Free Agent team however the Legends pulled a coup by signing the Free Agent to a contract and all David has done is produce. David is currently tied for first place in Division 8 in touchdown passes.
If Dave continues to be this hot he will definitely need some air conditioning to cool him down!

Our Week #4 crown goes to The Bill Arnott’s Travis Davidson who scored six points and threw for two touchdowns in a closely contested game versus the Graceful Giraffes. While Travis did well on the stat sheet his player of the week award was sealed by his great display of sportsmanship. Down 8 points late in the game Travis deked out a couple of Giraffes players and turned the corner for a called touchdown however Travis called a tag on himself that was missed by our referees and took the touchdown off the score sheet. That display of sportsmanship was much appreciated and unfortunately probably the exception rather than the rule. The PIT commends such play and we hope that others take Travis’s lead and offer similar displays of sportsmanship in the future.
Travis has earned quite a bit of swag for his play, learn what else he could get by checking out the link below.

Our Week #5 Boston Pizza POW goes to Andrew Sinclair of the Large Pepperoni Boys who had 18 points and 1 interception in a hotly contested defeat at the hands of Bad Newz Kennels. Andrews 18 points puts him one behind fellow teammate Greg Harrison for 9th in Divisional Scoring.
With games like that maybe Andrew will get his own hit TV character like these guys:

Ryan Loewen of the Avengers scored 4 touchdowns, a convert and an interception in victory over the Goodfellas. The 25 points was the highest scoring output for an individual player on the Avengers all season and moved him into second place in the divisional scoring race. Ryan’s interception moved him into fifth in Division 7 for takeaways. Quite the season for Mr. Loewen!
Pretty sure Ryan celebrate his award in a more politically correct way then these guys:

The Nomads Ian Steeves is the newest recipient of the POW after throwing for 7 touchdowns and picking off two passes in substitution of the Nomads regular QB who was on IR for the game. Ian led the Nomads to their only victory of the season, knocking off a short handed Bandits team. After that POW performance Ian finished tied for seventh in the division in interceptions and sixth in TD passes! Not a bad way to cap a non-playoff season.
Those 7 TD passes weren't the most discreet way to end a season!
