With registration just a week and a half away we are reminding teams that we do have the flag football 8 on 8 limited contact option in addition to touch football. Here is a rundown of information for the flag league: http://pitfootball.com/menu/flag-football-rules

For further information you can contact Chris Wentz-Chisholm or myself. Chris has been playing flag in the PIT since it started and before that in the MFFL. He can give you any insights into the game or forming a team. You can contact Chris at 204.230-7546 or via email at internal_urge@hotmail.com

To those of you who are on the fence, or have considered converting your team to flag from touch I urge you to consider making the switch. There is so much more you can do with flag football. It is 8v8 with a 3 man line, that means those buddies that are to big to play touch now have a welcomed spot on your roster. With the addition of linemen, it opens up your game and allows you to be able to run the ball, clump up or spread out the defense with a more versatile game plan.

Controlled blocking between hips and shoulders is allowed, as well as 5 yard jam on receivers. With this style of semi-contact allows you to open up holes and slow down your opponent without causing major injuries. Some new players worry flag would be too rough, but it really isn't and is a great transition for those who played tackle in high school or majors that cant really get into the touch style speed football.

If you have questions about the game feel free to ask.

There are not many videos out there, but this one is pretty close to how we play. Keep in mind its American, they have 4 downs and stiff arms - we do not.
