Messages for some ref love

Just want to say the refs at my game for the 1245 time at field 1. Reffed a good game. Their were a few bad calls and i mean maybe two and the one the ref even said he wasnt close enough to see what we saw on a touch down pass. But stuck to his call. Theirs nothing more then having respect for a ref who can tell you he saw one thing and will stick to it and call an even matched game. As well stand their and talk to you about the play and understand what you saw and what he saw. At the end of the day his call stands. But for him to take the time and talk about it with us and understand where we come from is huge. It calmed my team down and let us keep going with no problems. Both refs deserve a pat on the back for a game well Reffed

Thanks Max, over a beer afterwards I commended that same ref crew for a similar visual explanation that was given during the Ripping and Tearing vs Noisemakers tussle at 11:45, big Simon "Drago" Blaszczak was pleading his case on a convert. Rick took the time to demonstrate from his perspective which was about 2 yards away during the play, that Simon was tagged as he was pulling the ball inward towards his body, but in Rick's opinion the ball did not cross the goal line. Just so you can put a few names to faces, the Head referee was Dallas Muir, and the Back Judge was Rick Hoydalo. Once again Max, it's nice to hear the opinions from the membership.

Ian here, Rolling 7's.

As much as we players understand the costs involved in running a touch football league don't you all think that having ref's at all is a luxury that we don't really need? A simple game of touch football with players calling their own tags and calling their own penalties would do away with the need for ref's. The cost for our teams would drop considerably and we would all learn to be better sportsmen. Don't you all agree? Aren't we all level headed adults that share a love of football and as such perfectly capable of solving any and all disputes quickly and calmly?

That said, I sure would hate to take away Nick Trinder's only source of income...

Let's put it to a vote!

In all seriousness, the refs have been much improved these past few seasons. I might not always agree with them, but I find myself arguing the same points with the same ref's season after season and ultimately, consistency is the most sought after attribute in a ref. Be fair and consistent. And they have.

And they have my thanks for making my games that much more fun.

Cheers.

I see where your going Ian, But with out the refs we would have total anarchy. This is no utopian society this is FOOTBALL! Were not talking about small town America where you don't lock your door at night were talkin' bout FOOTBALL! Players get competitive some more than others and I can not see a way to control all the personalities the PIT has to offer other than with refs. Who's keeping score? Who's collecting stats?? I will gladly pay the extra money for all the services we receive and to keep at bay the whining, arguments, theatrics and guaranteed shit talk on the field. Can I play a game honestly? 99% of the time definitely. But we are all going to get out of hand if there are no consequences.

Ian prefers "spirit fouls." Go play ultimate, ya bum!

I kid, I kid... no one should play ultimate.
