Messages for Old Exhibition Grounds

Sunday the PIT Crew got out to Old Exhibition Grounds, one of the fields we most likely will begin the season with. Old Ex was measured, aerated, and thatched to get the field ready. In addition a half yard of soil was put down to help maintain field quality.

Upon arrival the field was showing some wear but it was amazing what some aerating and thatching did to the field. Brown to start, green the finish once we removed the dead grass on top. Shouldn't every league have their own field maintenance equipment and crew? Here are some pictures of the handiwork:

Old Exhibition grounds got all of the normal accoutrements found only in the PIT. The PIT Crew put down the lines, hash marks, player boxes, directional arrows, and numbers to get Old Ex ready to start the season. The field is in great shape to start the season. Here are some pics:

The field lining continues, this time Old Exhibition Grounds was relined after the rainy season washed away much of the lines (stupid water soluble paint!) Its environmentally friendly unlike all the water bottles once again accumulating at the fields. Clean up after yourselves people!!!!

Here are some pics of the new and improved Old Exhibition Grounds:

Here are some belated pics from the first field lining at Old Exhibition grounds. The rains from the long weekend might have wiped out some of the lines but here is Old Ex at its finest:

Old Exhibition Grounds had to be repainted just two weeks after the initial paint job. With the rain and the sun the grass has grown quickly and played havoc with the fields. If you want to see an Old Time Exhibitionist here is your chance:

Old Ex has painted for the first slate of games last week and should be in rotation for the first three-four weeks of the season. The grass was surprisingly green and lush considering the lack of Spring we have had thus far. For those teams playing on the field this upcoming week here is what you can expect:

Old Ex was relined late last week as the lines had vanished after all of the rain, sun, more rain, and grass cutting. Fields are lined every three weeks but as we have seen with the weather lately it has wreaked havoc on the lines. New fields are coming into rotation this week and next and thus each will have a fresh coat of paint to work with. Presenting the relining of Old Ex:

With all the rain coming down it is giving me a chance to catch up on posts and pics. Here is our lining job for Old Exhibition grounds which we have actually lined three times this year already due to all the fast growing grass there:

If you check out the pics we first marked out the field and then lined it the next day. The contrast in temperature was remarkable with snow of the field the first day then scorching hot the next. Winnipeg weather, driving the PIT Crew nuts since 2008!

In addition to Aldgate the PIT Crew was in the North end getting Old Exhibition Grounds ready for tonight's kickoff! The best field liners in the business were out making the field look as good as possible for our players this weekend. Dion and Brent have become quite the experts in creating the best game day experience for our players. Since I was away this weekend there aren't many pictures on hand but here are a few pics of what you can expect:

Old Ex was relined early as all of the rain and sun has made the grass grow out of control. The PIT Crew went in and cut, lined, and put in all of the accoutrements that you will only find in the PIT. Here are some pics of their efforts...and our newest field liner...who was fired day one!

Old Ex was lined for the third time this season. It is unbelievable who quickly the grass grows at this field. The PIT Crew went out on Father's Day and cut and lined the field. The field is looking great and is taking the place of River Elm which whenever we go to cut the field it seems to downpour! You will be able to see with the pictures how much the grass has grown at Old Ex:

The PIT is the only recreational sports league with its own liner and lawn tractor, making the games that much more enjoyable for all of our players.

Four times a charm for Old Ex as the PIT Crew went out and cut and lined the field this past week. The field continues to remain in great shape, been almost a perfect season for rain and sunshine. Here are the pics:

Old Exhibition Grounds was lined for the fifth and final time this season. Our last rotation of the field starts today and ends the first week in September. It was a great run of games this year as we held our largest slate of games at this field in our history. Next year we should see more of the same as teams consistently request this field in the North. Check out our last painting extravaganza here:

We said the last lining was our final one at Old Ex but the rain and sun continue and the PIT Crew went out last week and lined the field yet again for the final games. The regular season wraps on on Friday and so does our usage at Old Ex. Thanks again to Brent and Dion who did a great job, this time waking up at 5:00am to get the field lined in time for the beginning of last weekends games:
