The PIT has had an increasing number of Divisions with teams ending the regular season with the same records, thus needing our tiebreaker system to kick in and sort the madness out. You can locate our indoor rules within the Navigation window under the Rules of the Game section, "Indoor rules 2011/2012" or you can follow this link: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/indoor-rules-2011-2012

This is the breakdown for the Divisons.

Division 12:

Million Dollar Wound(1)vs Spitting Turtles(4)
Beast Mode(2)vs Hurricanes(3)

Million Dollar Wound took first with a 4-1 record and Beast Mode earned 2nd with a 3-2 record. The other 4 teams with the identical record of 2 wins and 3 losses, with only room for two teams to move onto the playoffs. All teams had at least one win within this pool of 4, so the PIT took the best plus/minus record between these same 4 teams, with the result having the Hurricanes with a plus 6 points differential, earning the 3rd playoff position. The final spot was awarded to the Spitting Turtles because of their victories over the two remaining contenders, both the Scorgasms, and the Free Agents lost to the Spitting Turtles.

Division 14:

North End Moose Knuckles(1)vs White Mambas(4)
Teenage Dream(2)vs In Tebow we Trust(3)

North End Moose Knuckles takes top spot with a 4-1 record. Three teams had identical records of 3-2 and all had a win vs each other. Teenage Dream takes 2nd with a plus 31 points differential vs White Mambas and In Tebow we Trust. Tebow won the game vs White Mambas earning 3rd spot in the Division, and 4th Going to White Mambas.

Division 18:

Da Hot Pockets(1)vs Old Skool
Bad News Kennels(2)vs Kick Butkis(3)

Da Hot Pockets takes top spot with a record of 4-1. Three teams had identical records of 3-2, and all had a win vs each other in the group. Bad News Kennels takes 2nd with a plus 11 points differential vs Old Skool and Kick Butkis. Old Skool won the game vs Kick Butkis earning the 3rd spot in the Division, with 4th place going to Old Skool.

With some of the divisions wrapped up its time to go through all of the tie-breaking scenarios. Another year of great parity throughout the league, this weekend is shaping up to be a barn burner as division titles are on the line, teams jockey for position, playoff teams are established, and in some divisions the playoffs begin. Here is a run down of some of the playoff tie-breakers.

Elite:
Avengers (1) versus Legendary (2)

Division 1:
Iced Earth (1) versus Guild (2)

Division 3
? (1) versus Ballsagna (3)
? (2) versus The Rebels (4)
1st place will be determined this weekend when the Levels! face off against the Jeffery, however there was the race third and fourth.
A three-way tie existed between The Rebels, Villains, and Ballsagna. Each team was 1-1 in head-to-head, so head-to-head plus/minus was used to decide who was on the outside looking in for playoffs. When that tiebreaker scenario was examined Ballsanga takes down third in the division with a +/- of +5. The Rebels grab the final playoff spot with a head-to-head victory over the Villians 34-33! Great divisional parity all around.

Division 6:
LW United (1) versus Ninjas (4)
Face Kick (2) versus You Can't Coach That (3)
Another three-way as You Can't Coach That, the Ninjas, and Team Nike all tied with identical 2-3 records. Once again each team won one head-to-head battle and lost another, so head-to-head plus/minus was again used. The plus/minus played out so that You Can't Couch That (+9) finished third. Ninjas grab fourth with their victory over Team Nike. Another division which should be a coin flip come playoffs.

Division 9:
Butterfingers (1) versus Snipers (4)
GOATS (2) versus Yolmes (3)
The PIT likes 3-ways, as Snipers, GOATS, and Yolmes all finished 3-2. However, unlike the other divisions the Snipers lost both head-to-head matches and were therefore dropped to 4th (setting up a great playoff battle as the Snipers handed the Butterfingers their only loss of the season!). GOATS claim second by virtue of their head-to-head victory over Yolmes during the regular season.

Division 10:
Rolling 7s (1) versus The Nuge (4)
Rhinos (2) versus Barracudas (3)
A tie for 2nd and a tie for 4th! The Rhinos take second due to their head-to-head victory over Barracudas. The Nuge squeaks into the final playoff spot by winning the tie-breaker over Can't Touch This. Despite having more victories Can't Touch This loses the tiebreaker due to our newest tie-breaker (enacted prior to the Winter season) that states: "In the event that two teams are tied and one of those teams has defaulted a game during the regular season, the non-defaulting team (or team with fewer defaults) will automatically receive the higher seed." The PIT is aiming to crack down on defaulting teams much harder than in the past to ensure that games get played and teams do not lose out on games that they paid for as part of registration. This is the first case of the tiebreaker being enacted and it certainly won't be the last.

Div 4
HFC (1) vs Flaming Hemorrhoids (4)
Polk High (2) vs Brewers (3)

HFC wins the division by virtue of their regular season victory over Polk High, whereas the Flaming Hemorrhoids knock out the Y Nots also due to their regular season victory. Both The Triple B's and The Y Nots should pay a “visit” to Beer Belly QB Ryan Harbour after he no showed the Triple B's game last night allowing the Hemorrhoids to cruise to victory in a must win game for the Hemorrhoids. The Triple B’s played valiantly with just 4 guys and no QB but they had to down the ball way early to avoid having 100 scored against them. I have a few bear traps guys if you want to put some on Harbour's sidewalk: Here is a reenactment of what would probably happen if we did so:

Division 5:
Slobberknockers (1) vs Awesome O (4)
Smoking Ducks (2) vs Nomads (3)
The best division in the Winter with 4 teams (Slobberknockers, Smoking Ducks, Nomads, Awesome-O) all finishing with identical 3-2 records, meaning someone would go from first to 4th! With all teams holding victories against one another a 4-way points plus/minus was examined and Slobberknockers finish first with a +29 (Smoking Ducks -4, Awesome-O -5, Nomads -20). With Slobberknockers in first, all three remaining teams were 1-1 during the regular season, so plus-minus was again assessed with just the three teams. Smoking Ducks get second place at +8, the Nomads -2, and Awesome O -6. The last tie-breaker was settled with the Nomads defeating Awesome-O during the regular season to finish third.

Division 8:
Chuggernauts (1) vs MVD (4)
U Can’t Touch This (2) vs Venum (3)
A three way tie existed for second thru 4th with each team once again winning and losing a head-to-head matchup which sends us to point differential for the tie-breaker. U Can’t Touch This finishes second with a +35 point differential. Third place was decided last night when Venum knocked off MVD in another must win situation last night.

Division 11:
The Tribe (1) vs Gotham Knights (4)
Can’t Touch Dis (2) vs Da Beers (3)

Two-tiebreakers to be decided in this division, one for first and one to get into the playoffs! The Tribe wins the division by virtue of their head to head victory over Can’t Touch Dis, while Gotham Knights knock of Team Zoltan by benefit of their regular season victory.

Division 16:
Downtown (1) vs Armchair Athletes (4)
Spetsnaz (2) vs Team Smashmouth (3)

Downtown wins the division due to their defeat of Spetsnaz on the last day of the season for those two teams. A three way tie also resulted for 3rd thru 5th, with one team unfortunately being eliminated. Team Smashmouth (+12) gets third place (Manchild United -5, Armchair Athletes -7,). With that tie-breaker settled we go back to the start of the tie breaking system with Armchair Athletes squeaking into playoffs with their defeat over Manchild during the regular season.

Division 17:
Text Chicks (1) vs Papadopoulos (4)
The Rouge (2) vs Therapists (3)

Texting Chicks win the division by virtue of their regular season victory over the Rouge, whereas Papadopoulous gets into the playoffs by defeating Chuckin Pumps on the last game of the season in the last time slot last night 26-25.

Parity reigns in the PIT! All divisions are now set for our record breaking season of Winter indoor ball. A complete list of tiebreakers can be found here: http://www.pitfootball.com/menu/indoor-rules-2011-2012
