Messages for First Weekend

The first weekend of the record 84 team fall indoor season came to a close early this morning with some great games and lots of new teams. By our count nearly 20 new teams signed up for the fall season. With plenty of young talent on display the competitiveness of the league has never been better.
No more was the talent on display than in the games of some of our newest teams such as the A535 Heat, The Army, S.S. More Powerful Than Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk Put Together (one of the coolest names), The Tribe, Random Heroes, Da Browns, and Mayhem all won their inaugural games in the PIT. The veteran teams did have something to say as So Smooth, the Roughnecks, Kick Butkis, and the Barracudas all look like early favorites in their respective divisions.
Some great individual performances also went along with the the great games. Zack Hazlehurst (Old Skool) and Andrew Warelis (Long Balls) got off to record starts with 5 sacks each in their first game. Both Kevin Morrill (Da Hot Pockets, and of old Nomads fame) and Andrew Longley (Random Heroes) had 4 picks a piece. Tyler Krasowski (VG-Unit) and Amrit Basi (So Smooth) had 7 TD passes, while Daniel Yusim (Deep Punts) had 6. A bunch of players scored 3 TDs in their first games but none could compare to Amarjit Basi's 4 TD game, which included a few great catches in traffic.
All in all, a great way to start the weekend! I am sure we will see some great individual and team performances each week up until championship night December 23rd.

The first games of the Winter 2012 season kicked off this past weekend some with great games and individual performances. With the PIT becoming the largest indoor touch football league in Canada there will be plenty of new talent on display and the calibre of play has never been better.
Newcomers THCFC, Meats Pizzeria, Spetsnaz, and the Herniated Goat Scrotes all won their inaugural games in the PIT. There were some barn burners with both the Mongolian Village Destroyers and Can't Touch This winning in overtime convert shootouts, and some great individual performances. For example, Ryan Friesen (MVD), Devon Kettner (The Tribe), and Mathieu Simard (Section Slosh) all jumped out of the gate with huge 4 sack performances, Christopher Rosa (GOATS) set his sites on the interception record by nabbing 4 in his first game, Jordan Adduono (Gotham Knights) threw 7 TDs in his PIT debut as a quarterback, while Phil Chan (Mexicans) and Justin Labuick (Benders) hauled in 24 points a piece.
An excellent beginning to the season as teams jockey for playoff position to take home one of 19 championship trophies that will be handed out come the end of March.
