A big thanks to the PIT head of officials Brad Kelm and our Chair of the rules committee Cliff Kitchen for their awesome job at the ref clinic the past couple of days. You are learning from the best! Both Cliff and Brad are nationally certified referees who regularly referee at the National Touch Football Championships each year. The in-class portion of the course was held on Sunday at the Quality Inn/Winn City Pub, and the on-field portion was conducted in the cold and rain at Aldgate Field on Monday.
16 new recruits will be patrolling the sidelines this summer and we hope that all teams give them the benefit of the doubt as they work through their learning curves. Just remember that the PIT is the only league that certifies its referees on an annual basis. A shout out to the Woodys and Big Deal who played in the preseason game and who took the occasional intentional penalty to keep our new recruits on their toes.
Here are some pictures taken from the refs clinic for those who may want to take the course in the future or simply drink some beers reffing-style! http://www.pitfootball.com/albums/370-2011-pit-ref-clinic Anyone wanting to ref this summer can still do so, just contact Scott or myself for more information.
