Congratulations to the six teams who reveled in championship glory in the record-breaking 2011 Spring indoor season. Scores for the championship games can be viewed here: http://www.pitfootball.com/seasons/703-spring-indoor-2011/games/playoffs
Full write-ups will be provided once I sober up. History will recount the glory of championships X (if you count all PIT seasons) or II (if you count just spring indoor seasons). Championship teams will forever be immortalized "Stanley-cup" style on the nicest trophies in touch football today.

Here is a brief recap of our championship games during the spring indoor playoffs. Congratulations to all teams who hoisted the trophies and a big thanks to the 32 teams that made the record setting indoor season as great as it was!
Division 1: Blazers 22 HoJo Express 6
The Blazers defense stepped up big in the playoffs allowing only 24 points during their run to the championship. Gutsy win as Scott McArthur came up big to claim his second Division 1 title as a QB, while Dave Robson ran wild over the stout Ho Jo defense. With a little more experience Ho Jo is going to be the next great elite team in Manitoba, bank on it!
Division 2: The Night Shift 36 Glass Case of Emotion 19
The Night Shift terrorized division 2 and left the Glass Case of Emotion, in well, a glass case of emotion. Steve Nabess' 18 points, Thomas Malone's 2 sacks, a pick, and a TD, and Marc Hebert's 5 TD passes were too much even for Beau Marynuik's 3 INTs and 6 points. All of the 'Constant Readers' in the PIT will need to keep an eye on the Night Shifts summer incarnation The Dead Zone.
Division 3: Nomads 33 Keepers of the Keg 32 (overtime)
Definitely the game of the night as the Nomads came back from an 18 point deficit to tie the game at 32 with only seconds remaining. The veteran leadership of Glen Dyck and Cliff Kitchen paved the way for the tying TD as the two broke their own record for "oldest TD hookup" in PIT history. Shout outs to Neil McKernan who had 15 points including the overtime winner for the Nomads, and to Marc Ross of Keepers of the Keg who had 12 points including a pick six. Not a bad game from the 3rd and 4th seeds in the division!
Division 4: The Bandits 37 Barracudas 13
Jason Gibbons gets his name inscribed on the trophy once again, this time leading the Bandits to victory. Chibueze Uzoruo was player of the game with 12 points and 2 picks for the Bandits. Hoan "nicest throwing motion in touch football" Mac replied with 2 TD passes for the Barracudas who are getting closer by the season to staking their claim for championship glory.
Division 5: Flashers 20 Butterfingers 13
The Flashers become first time PIT champions, but it definitely won't be the last time the Flashers win the title. This young group is loaded with talent starting with QB Jordan Kussain (who had 3 picks and 2 TD passes) and Braxton McIntosh who had 12 points and an INT. Jamie Bouvier kept things interesting for the Butterfingers scoring all 13 of their points. And gentleman, the next time you feel a little banged up and are uncertain if you want to play, take the lead of Flasher rusher Cara Isaak who had 4 sacks this weekend, including two safeties, all while playing on a broken foot. A big boooo-urns goes out to Cara's Flasher teammate Scott Angus who skipped championship night to go on a date. No trophy for you.
Division 6: Slobberknockers 36 Odd Future 14
The Slobberknockers have come a long way from their 1-17 Summer season. A few key additions and some experience has catapulted the Slobberknockers to the status of champion. Game MVP Neil Smalley had 18 points and 2 sacks, while fellow 'knocker Christian Brunel had 5 TD passes to go along with a sack. The 'knockers did have to defeat the hottest team going into the playoffs in the Odd Future. This team has gutted out "one and done" football since starting the season 0-3. A great game between two up and coming teams who will be rekindling the rivalry in the summer season.
Each member of the championship teams will have their names engraved "Stanley Cup" style on the nicest trophies in touch football today. As more teams enter the PIT the competition becomes that much more fierce. Titles will be contested, dynasties will fall, and statistics harder to accumulate. Having said that, right now there is a kid somewhere sucking down strained peas and baby formula who is going to shatter Harlo Larkin's scoring title. That is crazy.

Better late than never, but the Spring championship photos are finally up. Here is the link to the photos: http://www.pitfootball.com/albums/374-spring-2011-indoor-championships?page=1
Great work (as usual) by our resident photographer Mae Robinson! Congratulations to the Blazers, Night Shift, Nomads, Bandits, Flashers, and Slobberknockers who won their respective divisional championships in what was the largest and most competitive indoor season in Manitoba touch football history.
For the players, by the players.
