Congratulations to all 15 of our divisional champions, who partook in the largest fall indoor league in Manitoba history! Some great games, huge performances, and down to the wire finishes, including two overtimes, and a game decided by a rouge on the final play. The competition will only get better as we add more divisions and teams into the winter season. A link to the photos of all the champions can be found in our image gallery or at the following link: http://www.pitfootball.com/albums/344-fall-2010-indoor-championships

Write ups for each of the games will go out late tonight/early morning tomorrow. A big thanks to Mae Robinson our resident PIT photographer for both her quick work in getting these pictures turned around and outstanding workmanship. Also, thanks to her chauffeur Greg "Peggle champion of the world" Robinson. No egg rolls for you my friend.

Here is a quick rundown of the weekend's Championship games in the PIT!

Elite:
The Avengers complete their undefeated season in style, while adding a piece or two to their outdoor team puzzle. The Villians are up next in the Winter to see who reigns supreme. Can the team loaded with current CFL talent knock off the top-ranked touch team in Manitoba?

Division 1:
Iced Earth defeats the Guild in overtime. Down by 8 points with under a minute left in the game and starting at their 3 yard line the Guild rallied to score a TD on the final play and the ensuring two-point convert to tie. But the Brownridge to Bruneau connection in the covert playoff was not to be denied. Another greatly contested game by these two evenly matched teams.

Division 2:
Superteam wins yet another title. They were the class of the division, and have been for the last few seasons. Damian Bialkowski’s MVP performance led Superteam to their third championship, but their greatest achievement is the advent of their “mind control gun” which they use on the PIT exec to keep them in division 2. With nothing left to prove Superteam must move up in calibre or shake up their roster.

Division 3:
Hojo Express rolled over the Jeffery with some timely interceptions and textbook man-to-man defence. Tony Carvalho did his part by sacking the elusive Tyler Johnston three times. Ho Jo was led by Aaron Giesbrecht’s 4 TD passes which consistently stretched the Jeffery defence vertically. Kurt Goodrich and Josh Guenther both pulled down a couple of TD receptions in the victory.

Division 4:
Newcomers Swaggerville, knocked off the veteran Beer Belly squad. The triple B’s came out and nickel and dimed Swaggerville to a half time lead, but Swaggerville stepped it up down the stretch. Jesse Clarke threw 5 second half TDs (7 overall), three to Joseph Osiname. Beer Belly replied with 2 TDs from Cliff “Octo-man” Kitchen and 3 sacks from Rick Slavinsky. The highlight of the game was the long bomb TD catch by Jeremy Gieni in which he literally blew the sole of his cleats out. Jeremy played the rest of the game with just one shoe.

Division 5:
The Brewers win their third championship and there is some talk of them moving up to elite in the Winter! The Brewers knocked off the Bondiddy Bengals, who fought valiantly despite missing their QB who was warmly nestled in his bed. The Bengal defence played a great game keeping the Brewers QB Andrew Westwood at bay. Jessie Clark and Nolan “Nolby Calet” Colby both went two for two in championship games on Sunday. Across the field, a team teabag may be in order for Bengal QB Todd Stenzel.

Division 6:
The undefeated HFC was upset by Awesome-O in overtime. The South Park fans made a big comeback in the second half after a slow start to the game. HFC was led by Kevin Robson’s 2 INTs, including a pick 6, whereas Awesome-O’s Tyler Johnston scored 11 points, including 3 in overtime to seal the game. Awesome-O continues to compute their way into the PIT’s heart:

Division 7:
The Snipers completed their undefeated season by escaping with hard fought one-point victories over both Rolling 7s and the Chuggernauts in the playoffs. The Snipers were led by Richard Hartwich’s 14 points and an INT, whereas Jason Pillipow countered with 12 points for the always game Chuggernauts. This is the third-championship for the Snipers, who will also have to test the waters in a higher division come Winter!

Division 8:
The PIT Free Agent team jelled quickly, led by Arthur Garand on offense and Wayne Chen on defence. The top-seeded team stopped the evil Decepticons quest for PIT domination in yet another come-from-behind victory. Free Agent Time overcame the Decepticons Dean Eichstadter’s 4 TD passes with some late fourth quarter heroics from Benjamin McGregor who scored 26 points in the game. Arthur Garand became a two-time champion yesterday, centering the Ho Jo express and QBing F.A.T. to victory.

Division 9:
Pick 6 takes home their second PIT championship in a barnburner against Onslaught. Pick 6 was led by Bryan Read’s 7 points and Sam Tougas’ INT and 3 TD passes, but Onslaught was in the game right until the end with Justin Noble scoring 3 TDs and picking off Tougas twice. Catch of the night might have been by Onslaught’s Raj Miser, whose diving catch near the end of the game slipped threw his hands but was caught between his knees.

Division 10:
The Butterfingers jumped up to a big half time lead on Skullcaps and Scouts, but first year QB Terry Martins led the team with the worst name in touch football back with the help of twenty points from Phil Coss. With the game tied on the last play, Skullcaps kicked the ball from their own 1 yard line, and miraculously scored the rouge to win the game as the ball stopped dead in the Butterfingers endzone! Could have been the third OT championship game of the weekend, stupid rouge. Props to the Butterfingres Stephane Pilloud for his two TD, three INT effort in the loss.

Division 11:
Sons of Anarchy defeated the Roughnecks in perhaps the game of the night. While this game didn’t go to OT like so many others, the Roughnecks had three shots from the one yard line to win the game. On the final play, Roughnecks QB Anthony Chase eluded the rusher and went for the endzone, however Sons of Anarchy team captain Liam Taylor was in his way. Liam kept Anthony at bay then skied in the air to knock down the sure game winner to an open WR in the back of the endzone. With that Sons of Anarchy walk away with their first PIT championship.

Division 12:
Brothers from Another Mother and Barracuda’s D met in the Division 12 championship, in what was probably the most competitive division in the PIT. The finals were no different with the Brother’s narrowly escaping with a one-point victory. Hoan “nicest throwing motion” Mac hit Scott Wessner for two TDs, while Jamie Pittumbur led the Brothers to victory by scoring the trifecta of 1 TD pass, 1 rushing TD, and 2 INTs.

Division 13:
The Guns of Hoculi got hot at the right time and they rolled through their playoff opponents. Gunslinger Chris Silva had 7 TD passes in the semis and followed that up with 5 TD passes in the finals as Hoculi KO’d the always tough trophy thieves the Benders. Justin Lavery, Winston Yip (Hoculi), and Ben Walker (Benders) all scored 2 TDs in the game. Hoculi wins their first title in this incarnation of the team, denying the Benders bid to become three-time champions and from burgling our trophies.

Division 14:
First timers Chronic Illness knocked off the Armchair Athletes in a very competitive and spirited affair in Division 14. This was a game of youth and speed versus veteran savvy. On this day youth was served. Micheal Di Biase scored 6 points, had three INTs and threw for a TD for Chronic Illness, which was too much for even the Armchair Athlete’s Aaron Lefort who had 7 points and 4 picks. After the game, Chronic Illness proceeded to call out the elite division Avengers, and while we admire their gumption, perhaps they should heed the prophetic words of Airborne:
