Our record breaking season got underway on Friday with 48 teams coming through the doors over the weekend. Not only have the teams increased but so has the calibre of play. Some great games on the weekend (to name just a few that I saw: Ho Jo over the Jeffrey 39-34, Snipers over Rolling 7s 32-25, Gators over Chuggernauts 28-22, Onslaught over Mighty Schmucks 31-26, Roughnecks over You Can't Coach That 28-27, and the best game of the weekend Section Slosh defeating Barracuda's D 40-39). Its good to see the Mighty Schmucks back after a year off because of injuries, they don't look like they have missed a beat!

Some other highlights of the weekend included HFC pulling the stunning comeback victory over Darkness. Down 26-6 with 8 minutes left in the game HFC came back to win 32-26. The Gators had the largest and loudest cheering section in PIT history - nice touch with the cow bells and drums. The league features more than a dozen brand new teams with some of them (notably the Play Action Flashers, Gamerz, Black Magic, Brothers from Another Mother, Shockers, Sons of Anarchy, and Section Slosh) coming up victorious in their first games of indoor football. Congrats, we hope you continue to find success in the league. The Grand Beach Touch Football Classic finalists, 3rd and 10 inches, came up short in their first game, but they definitely showed their athleticism versus the veteran DaKillaBees and will be a team to be reckoned with once they get acclimatized to the touch game.

Overall a great start to our season. One final shout out to all of our referees. 8 refs per night provide their time so we can play football. The PIT endeavors to provide the best reffing crew in touch football today, with a lot of new blood for the fall season we are once again well on our way to doing so.

Lastly, a happy trails to Arlen Bolan who is moving back to Hamilton this week. Arlen took the league by storm and holds multiple division championships, as well as titles for points and interceptions across more than one season. Arlen also helped the Avengers to their 5th place ranking in Canada. And in his last game in the PIT on Friday he torched those same Avengers for 3 TDs and 2 INTs, including scoring a TD on his final play in the league. Good luck buddy, the Avengers will be calling come tournament time next year!
