Congratulations to the PIT's Winnipeg Avengers who finished ranked 5th in Canada during the annual Tournament of Champions held over Thanksgiving Weekend in Ottawa. Not bad for a team who hasn't played regularly in two years! If any team in Manitoba wants to try to knock off the 5th ranked team in Canada, there continues to be an open challenge to play.

The Avengers won their pool at the Nationals, including knocking off the third ranked team in Canada, the Toronto Trojans, in a dominant performance. Unfortunately the Avengers fell to eventual championship finalist the Regina Megalomania. Congratulations should also be extended to the Burlington Spartans, who continued their dominant reign, winning their fourth straight National Championship.

Any team in Winnipeg? Like when Sunparties beat avengers two Saturdays ago? So that means avengers bump to 6 while sunparties moves to 5th right? k cool

Sorry Brad, you didn't beat us as we kept taking back the TDs we scored to rescrimmage. One play TDs didn't give us much to work with. But hey it was fun, and you know where to find us (just no head hunting). Good luck vs the Assassins, I have installed you as a heavy 16 point favorite. If you want the real competition next season, you know where we are and we can settle it on the field, regulation play, with referees, and counting towards the standings.

Thanks to Mae Robinson for some great pics of the action at the Tournament of Champions (Touch football national championships). The PIT will be trying to get some teams other than the Avengers out to TOC next year to represent the best league in Manitoba. Check out the pics to see what you are in store for!
