Congratulations to all the winning teams over the weekend. The PIT crowned a record 15 champions out of our 86 combatants that started the year. Some big upsets, hail mary victories, and amazing individual performances highlighted a great weekend of ball. All scores are currently posted and we will have a recap of all the games up tomorrow.

A big shout out to all the teams who participated in the Winter season, the PIT hopes to see everyone back for the first ever Spring season and/or the finest summer session around!

Just curious Jon for next indoor fall and winter season is the League going to remained capped at 86 teams or is there a possibility of further expansion?

Hey Eric, to answer your question we would love to expand the league to include all teams who are interested in playing. In the fall we turned away 4 teams and in the Winter 13 teams could not get into the league. Having said that, there are definite limitations to what we can do to expand. We are not going to go later into the evening than we do now, and we can't get any earlier time slots because soccer has the time slots booked. Thus our only option is to either extend the season or rent time during the week. Neither of which are particularly great options.

Rest assured we are going to do everything we can to make the league the best but we cannot expand without the resources nor will we expand if it lowers the quality of the league. In the summer we were able acquire new fields and hire new refs to ensure we had the resources to keep with our philosophy of the "best game day experience". So we will be mindful of expansion and will do it if we can and there is demand. But by the looks of things there has been tremendous growth in touch football in Manitoba over the last few years, Fall and Winter have sold out, the first ever Spring league is filling up fast, and our Summer league has taken off by leaps and bounds! So you never know what we might be able to come up with, Scott and I have been known to pull a few rabbits out of our hats.

Yeah i totally agree. Its not worth compromising quality with quantity. This league got to the top by how well organized it is and will remain at the top as long as everything continues to run smoothly and in a professional manner, as it has.

Is there going to be any on field photos from fridays and saturdays games posted?

Yep, we have quite a few pics, just waiting on our in-house pro-photographer Mae Robinson to go through and select out some of the best. Apparently over 1000 pictures were taken on the weekend (so it may take a bit of time!)

Here is your championship night run down:

ELITE DIVISION: The Avengers 33 Bisons 12
The Avengers “drive for five” was almost derailed by the “Bison-cat” offense unveiled by the ex-University all-stars. Brad Black kept the game close with his scrambling and throwing, but the doors fell off the Bisons after a Kenny Ferguson kick off return TD to start the second half.

DIVISION 1: Guild of Calamitous Intent 44 Aztecs 13
The Guild also claimed a “five-peat” but the victory was bittersweet as they took on a short-handed Aztecs squad who played valiantly without their QB who was doing his best Adam “Pacman” Jones impression in Vegas over the weekend http://

DIVISION 2: Terminators 32 Hyenas 0
Terminators played a flawless game, with your PIT Crew hooking up for 4 TDs in the process. The Hyenas high powered offense was kept off the score sheet by the much maligned Terminators defence, who came to play in the finals. Thanks to the Hyenas for helping move some games around, hope you enjoyed the cold beer!

DIVISION 3: Levels! 1 Ratz 0
The Ratz devastated by a rash of injuries during there journey to the finals, could not field a team against a Levels! team that keeps on trucking, adding yet another cup to their PIT indoor legacy.

DIVISION 4: Nomads 13 Rowdies 12
The Nomads waited 14 years between their first and second championship trophies, but only had to wait three months to claim their third. A stellar defensive effort by both teams kept the game low scoring, with the Nomads eeking out victory by virtue of scoring the lone convert in the game.

DIVISION 5: Mexicans 32 Bondiddy Bengals 6
Mexicans take what was probably the most difficult and evenly matched division in the PIT over the Winter. Justin Hink had 5 TD passes, 4 of them to Patrick Allan as the tandem led the Mexicans to decisive victory.

DIVISION 6: Brewers 27 Daisey Dukes 19
The Brewers gain some measure of revenge over the Daisey Duke team that knocked them out of the playoffs in the fall. The double D’s beat the Brewers in overtime last season and had a chance to send it to OT on the weekend with a hail mary at the end but their prayer fell on deaf ears.

DIVISION 7: HFC 39 Unforgiven 13
HFC makes and takes their first final in the PIT. The Chans’ Greg and Richard combined to haul in 5 Dave Robson TD passes. A surprisingly high scoring game considering the two teams combined for 9 INTs during the championship bout!

DIVISION 8: Charleswood Champs 27 Demons 26
Definitely the game of the night. The Demons pulled ahead by 7 with only seconds left in the game. However, the hail mary pass by the Champs on their ensuing drive was answered, followed up by the two-point convert for victory. A crazy finish to a division that saw the top two seeds knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.

DIVISION 9: Polk High All Stars 38 Dr. Rockso’s Three Ring Circus 26
You might have seen the staff at our facility moving nets and getting the field ready for your games all season, but you might not have known that they were also the undefeated Polk High All-Stars. Led by their captain Kory Stagg’s “Vince Lombardi-esque” pre-game speech and Daniel Militano’s four touchdowns in a single game, Polk High made sure they would not be “Bundied” in the finals. Mister Stagg made a shoe-string catch on the final drive to ensure the clock ran out on Dr. Rockso. Daniel was also named game MVP, and with that here is a look into Daniel's future: http://

DIVISION 10: Show Us Your TDs 25 Mustard Tigers 23
Show Us Your TDs pulled off the biggest upset of the finals, knocking off the previously undefeated Mustard Tigers. The Mustard Tigers only gave up 32 points all season, but SUY TDs QB Justin Derouin spread his 4 TDs around to 4 different players, keeping the Tigers guessing until time ran out.

DIVISION 11: Who Dat? 22 Trailer Park Boys 18
Another game that came down to the wire. The combo of Todd Hersak and Matt Decker combined for 20 of Who Dats’ 22 points. Todd Pasternak replied with 12 for the Trailer Park Boys, who made a successful debut in the PIT. Watch out for this team of young guns in the future!

DIVISION 12: Clansmen 33 Solid Oak 12
The Clansmen, who seemed to get better and better each game out, avenged their regular season loss to Solid Oak in grand fashion. Making the transition from tackle to touch is always difficult but veteran player Adam Smith made the right adjustments and had the team peaking at just the right time.

DIVISION 13: Peppermint Hippo 19 Rolling 7s 12
How do you win a championship game against an undefeated juggernaut? Simple, send the biggest player in touch football today to knock the opposing quarterback unconscious. While the play was definitely unintentional the Rolling 7s QB was unable to return to play. With that the Peppermint Hippo were able to stymie the Rolling 7s.

DIVISION 14: Benders 31 Chargers 12
The battle of the top two teams was highly contested until the Benders made some half-time adjustments to contain the elusive Sonya Panchuk. The Chargers and Benders finished one-two in the regular season but the Chargers could not sustain their play in what was both teams second game of the night. Congrats to the Benders for winning their first championship, and to the Chargers who demonstrated that the ladies of football could take some names and kick some @ss.

Congrats to all teams who won their respective division championships. And a big shout out to the record 86 teams across 15 divisions who played in the PIT in the Winter. We hope to see everyone back for the Spring and/or Summer sessions!
