Here is a brief rundown of championship games held last weekend in the PIT!

ELITE DIVISION: The Avengers 52 Pimp Champ Daddys 24
Congrats to the Avengers for winning the elite division title, making them the first four-time champions of the PIT. The Avengers knocked off the much improved Pimp Champ Daddys who have talent to burn but just need some seasoning at the touch game.

DIVISION 1: Guild of Calamitous Intent 37 Untouchables 28
The Guild matches the Avengers as four-time champions besting the Untouchables in a game in which the offenses dictated the play. Division scoring leader Ryan Harbour continued his stellar play with 20 points in the final.

DIVISION 2: Superteam 40 HoJo Express 20
Clearly Superteam and HoJo were the class of this division, despite HoJo jumping up 3 divisions in calibre, they did not miss a beat. However, former Elite Division scoring leader Ryan Martin showed he hasn’t lost a step pouring in 18 and adding 2 ints to win the game and the MVP award for Superteam.

DIVISION 3: Beer Belly Bastards 48 Barracudas 19
Triple B’s finally broke their championship drought defeating the battle-tested Barracudas in Division 3 action. Beer Belly was lead by Cliff Kitchen’s mastery of the sideline catches, keeping drives alive and scoring 14 points. A revamped Barracudas should continue to reek havoc come Winter season.

DIVISION 4: Levels! 20 Get Your Popcorn Ready 12
Newcomers GYPR had a great season and demonstrated tremendous potential as one of the PITS up and coming younger teams, but they will have to wait to have their names engraved on the Trophy as the underdog Levels! defeated GYPR, continuing their stellar play following their huge victory over the previously undefeated Titans earlier in the playoffs.

DIVISION 5: Nomads 37 So Smooth DIPS 20
14 years. That’s how long the Nomads have waited since winning their last league championship. Brad Giesbrecht poured in 24 more points after leading the division in scoring and demonstrating why he has perhaps the best hands in all of touch football. So Smooth DIPS are another young up and coming team who should fare well with a bit more experience at the touch game.

DIVISION 6: Awesome-O 19 Daisey Dukes 13
In a back-and-forth battle Awesome-O outlasted the Daisey Dukes to claim the Division 6 title. Awesome-O used a spread offense with 3 different receivers accounting for their scoring. Josh Guenther replied with 12 for the double D’s. Special thanks to these two teams for moving the time of their game to accommodate other teams in the PIT.

DIVISION 7: Chuggernauts 27 Street Meat 19
Street Meat was up late in the game versus the Chuggernauts who roared back to victory in one of the more exciting games of the night. Beau Wilks and Drew MacKenzie put on an aerial display, with the difference being Drew’s running ability. It appeared Street Meat couldn’t contain the elusive runner.

DIVISION 8: Panthers 33 Show Us Your TDs 20
The fourth seeded Panthers with their ruckus fans in house prevailed over yet another great young team in Show Us Your TDs. Jason Gibbon’s inscribes his name on the PIT trophy again, aided by teammates Jessie Manlig and Jeremy Gieni who scored 12 points each to preserve the victory.

DIVISION 9: Pick 6 39 2 and Out 12
Pick 6 wins their first championship over 2 and Out who upset the division leader Decepticons earlier in the semi-finals. Ryan Frechette and Marco Ferreria each had two scores in the victory. John Perretta replied with 2 TD passes for 2 and Out.

DIVISION 10: The Mustache Riders 31 Solid Oak 6
The Mustache Riders and Solid Oak survived the div 10 gauntlet to face off in what was both teams second game of the night. The Mustache Riders who have great depth throughout the roster were simply too much for Solid Oak who made their first championship final and brought with them the PITs largest and loudest cheering section in PIT history.

Congrats to all teams who won their respective division championships. And a big shout out to the record 62 teams who played in the PIT in the fall. We hope to see everyone back for the Winter session.
