Our fifth inductee to the Manitoba Touch Football Hall of Fame is John Jonker. John was elected by the Hall of Fame committee in the Team Captains category. To be considered for selection in the Team Captains category a player must have been a team captain for a minimum of 20 seasons of touch football (indoor and outdoor included). Team captains are the unsung heroes of touch football and this is the first Hall of Fame to pay tribute to the players that go above and beyond for their teams in an administrative capacity.
Congratulations to John Jonker who has made touch football a family affair!
🔥 Began playing in 1993 with the Nationals in the WTFL - 30 years as a player!
🔥 Captained teams in the WTFL, UTFL, and PIT Football League
🔥 Captain teams that played in the Labour Day tournaments in Regina and Portage La Prairie Tournaments
🔥 Focused on sportsmanship and playing with family and friends
🔥 All-time leader in Slurpee's drank as a team
