Messages for Spring Season Postponed
Posted by League Commissioner | May 07, 2021 06:47 PM |
With the new social distancing restrictions put in place tonight by the Manitoba government, PIT Football will be postponing play effective immediately until the restrictions are lifted. Obviously, this is not ideal, but the health of our membership is always our priority. If restrictions are further extended after the current three-week moratorium on outside sporting events, we will decide at that point as to the playability of the remainder of Spring season.
We want to stress that this is only a postponement, we have no intention of cancelling the Spring season. Since the current lockdown situation is out of the control of the league, we will not be issuing refunds until a decision is made regarding the continuation of spring. We have already discussed extending our spring season with our facilities and there will be field time made available to us upon the end of the current restrictions.
If the decision is ultimately to cancel the season, refunds will be provided as accordance to what was listed on the website prior to the season beginning:
• Before first game: Full refund
• After first game: $400
• After second game $300
• After third game $200
• After fourth game $100
• After regular season $0
What does this mean for the summer season?
We still plan on having a summer season if it is safe to do so. Last summer we did not start the season until July. With the postponement of the Spring season, the summer season this year will probably have a similar start date.
For summer we will still be offering 5 v 5 divisions and coed divisions, AND full field 7 v 7 games. The summer season would also be seeing us playing every day of the week, which will allow more flexibility for players and teams. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
We are focused on ensuring a safe return to play. We thank our players for their understanding and for responsibly adhering to the rules over the past two weeks (it was a blast to be back playing!). We look forward to crowning all of our spring champions when we can safely return to the field.
