Today Manitoba Health moved the city of Winnipeg into level Red of the Province of Manitoba Pandemic Response System. The Red level of pandemic response includes the following response measures:

Playgrounds, skate parks, golf courses, tennis courts, driving ranges, marinas, drive-in movie theatres and other similar recreation facilities may be ordered to close.
Gathering sizes may be extremely limited.
Non-essential workplaces may be ordered to close.

The PIT Football League’s facilities fall within these broad categories and the league would have been forced to postpone games from at minimum from November 2nd to November 16th. The league has made the decision that rather risk the safety of our players and officials and play this weekend, and then hope for a restart in two weeks, we will instead cancel the entire Fall season. The league has always made safety of paramount importance and we feel that we need to continue to prioritize players’ and officials’ safety over forcing a season to continue around the restrictions. We also felt it irresponsible to play this weekend.

The PIT Football league will not resume until Manitoba Health deems it safe to return to play. We hope that the City of Winnipeg can return to some level of normalcy soon and we will plan for a Winter season in January. We know that there is a lot of competition for your recreational dollar, but we prefer to err on the side of caution to keep everyone safe and we hope that you will join us again when it is safe to do so.

We also are aware how hard it is for captains to track down players for their registration. If you prefer to keep your registration money with the league until the Winter season, we will credit it towards Winter registration. If you prefer a refund, we will process that for you. If you opt for a refund, the league does have a cap on e-transfers per day. In the Spring it took about 10 days for all refunds to be processed. If you have not received a refund from within 10 days of your request, please follow up.

To receive a refund or a credit, please email us at registration@pitfootball.com to let us know your preference. You must include your team name(s) in the subject heading so that we can process refunds and credits in an orderly manner. E-transfers will only be sent to the person who provided payment. We will not provide individual e-transfers to players. Of course, if future seasons are jeopardized teams will always have the option of a refund in the future.
