Hey everyone,
just wanted to let people know that the nationals this year are being held just outside of Montreal. I am sure many people have heard that there are a lot of teams potentially going from Winnipeg this year (5 to 7) and I am creating this post mainly to inform people that there are likely going to be a few of these teams requiring extra players.
The team I am helping organize, with the assistance of Marc Hebert and Chris Earnshaw is The Ledge. A few of our guys have gone to the nationals 2 of the past 3 years, and i have gone the past 3 years. Our team was really waiting for the Montreal destination before taking our team again. We formerly went as the Deadzone, but with some personnel changes we have evolved to become The Ledge this year. I do apologize to Jon, as i had to bail on the Horde this season due to my promises with The Ledge to help organize this once in a lifetime football experience. So i am putting this out there to let people know that The Ledge will need a few players to fill out our roster for nationals. Ideally we are looking to add a bit of speed, and maybe a Div 2 to 6 skill level player (we aren't that picky as long as you are a good guy) but my suggestion would be to anyone who is interested in joining us, please drop me an e-mail at neilgwizon@hotmail.com or a text at 204-782-8519 and you will be considered to join our team. What i can tell you is that we won't be able to bring everyone who responds, but if you are interested in going, getting your name out here would help getting you picked up on one of the several teams going either way.
I think anyone who has gone in the past few years can attest to the huge amounts of fun these tournaments end up being. They are usually equally about the social aspect as they are the football games themselves.
Our plan is to go Thursday October 9th, and leave Tuesday October 14th. I am currently researching some large housing options, as this usually ends up being significantly cheaper than staying in the team hotel, and from my experience in our Toronto rental, it was a hell of a lot of fun (somehow nothing got broken)We BBQ, play ping Pong / Beer Pong, drink booze, and will be in an area the cuts the distance from the fields and downtown Montreal in half.
If you want more information about costs or tourney info, please feel free to contact me, and if you are interested in playing please contact myself or post here to let other teams know that you would possibly like to attend this tournament as well.
Thank you,
Neil Gwizon
