Football Manitoba will play host to the 2018 Provincial team who will compete for the National Flag Football Championship in Saskatoon May long weekend (May 18th to 21st). Football Manitoba will be directing and selecting the team. All players in the province are welcome to compete for the team.

Here is the need to know information:

The best way to select a team would be by evaluating players during actual games. The plan is to have one to two teams of prospective players participate in the Fall indoor season which runs October 27th to December 9th. Upon completion of the season 12 players will be selected to travel to Saskatoon to participate in the National flag football tournament. Those 12 players will participate in the Winter and Spring seasons to gain additional experience playing together. The two seasons will allow the players to play at least 12 games together prior to Nationals.

Evaluation criteria will be further developed shortly but players will be chosen based on the following (no particular order):
1. Skill level (positional)
2. Flagging ability
3. Ability to play multiple positions
4. Sportsmanship
5. Teamwork
6. Flag rules knowledge

The tryouts would be open to all players in Manitoba. Players would be required to do the following:
• Pay their registration for the tryouts by Friday October 20th ($90)
• Pay their membership to Football Manitoba ($30)
• Players selected would be expected to play in the Winter and Spring seasons. Cost would be $180 ($90 per season)
• Attend an exhibition tournament in January in Saskatoon (costs TBD)
• Be available to play in the National Tournament (May 18th to 21st) in Saskatoon (costs TBD).

As a follow up to we strongly encourage all PIT Football members to participate in the provincial flag football program. The more players that we have competing the stronger our provincial program will be.

While we encourage all players to participate, this is a Football Manitoba program. Football Manitoba will be in charge of the selection process, rule enforcement, coaching and organization. Tryouts will be hosted during the PIT season but all members of the football community will be eligible to participate. You may get to play against Bison players, ex-pros and some of the top touch/flag players across the province regardless of their affiliation. We appreciate the opportunity that Football Manitoba has presented to all football players in the province and we hope to see our members succeed and help the senior provincial program flourish.
